This was our second cruise with AMA and we cannoy imagine a river cruise with any other line. The service and amenities are top-notch. The quality of food surpassed even our previous cruise. Unfortunately we had terrible weather throughout our 10 day holiday, but AMA still made the cruise very enjoyable. The daily walking tours, though hampered by the weather, were interesting and informative. The local guides' knowledge of the cities and castles was extensive and most of them had their own unique experiences to share. The new quiet vox devices were very helpful.
On board, everything is spotless and attention to detail is obvious throughout the ship. Our cabins were serviced twice per day and hallways and other common areas are kept neat and tidy at all times.
The small complement of guests and crew allows for great interaction. It was wonderful to meet so many people from various parts of the world and to converse at meals, on tours, in the lounge, etc.
We chose a cabin with a combination balcony - half open space and half traditional French balcony. Our previous cruise ship with AMA only had French balconies. All things considered we would prefer a simple French balcony again. The open balcony allows less floor space in the cabin, which is tight at best. Because our weather was so bad we spent very little time on the balcony. And in weather nice enough to spend time on the balcony, a person could easily go up to the sun deck where one can access both sides of the ship and almost the full length.
That is our only quibble about the cabin. The cleanliness of the room was outstanding. Shower and bathroom is well equipped and handy. The beds are very comfortable. Storage is limited but we had no trouble managing our wardrobes for the 10 days. The cabin service is excellent. This is a floating hotel and a home away from home.
Rain and hail but a beautiful medieval town.
