Norwegian Escape Cruise Review by Cocopip
- Sail Date: April 2019
- Destination: Bermuda
- Cabin Type: The Haven Forward-facing Penthouse with Balcony
Hubby and I have cruised in the spring out of NY on the Gem in 2017 and 2018. We were hesitant to cruise on the much larger Escape for this year's cruise. While we needed a map to find out where we were going much of the cruise, everything was easy to find. Elevators (except for embarkation and disembarkation) ran quickly. The ship was so clean and bright and every crew member were smiling, helpful, and friendly. Officers were everywhere asking how you were, how things were, if they could help you with anything.
Cagneys Steakhouse was excellent! Service and food outstanding.
Moderno was a big disappointment and we had booked it 2x. The food came out so slowly. You'd get a piece of chicken, wait 10-15 minutes for another server. If the same server walked by you again, he'd pass because you already had whatever he was offering. Plus the food was very salty.
O'Sheeans was ok. Nothing great, nothing bad. Bartenders were fun to watch.
Garden Cafe was good.
Haven Restaurant was outstanding. Every. single. time. Service was fantastic. Food was fantastic.
Bermuda is gorgeous and it is on our list to visit again.
What can I say about embarkation and disembarkation that hasn't already been said. Its a mess. Long lines, confused people. Elevators stuffed full and more people trying to squeeze in. There has to be a better way.
Cocopip’s Full Rating Summary
Beautiful suite. Good size living area with dining table, comfy couch. King size bed in bedroom with forward facing window. Bathroom was wonderful. Large with a double sink vanity, shower with all these different heads, bathtub. The only downside to this cabin was the balcony. Directly under the bridge so not only did you have this 'wing' overhead, the balcony itself was enclosed. It felt like I was sitting in a submarine. Tops and sides were metal, with the standard glass bottom panel and a small open window area. Since the balcony is my happy place, I was more than disappointed. I couldn't sit out on it w/o feeling claustrophobic.
