Embarkation - Entering the terminal by car was a mess. There was no signage or guides to help you through. I have been on enough cruises to know that it is customary to drive in, unload bags with the porter and proceed to the car parking lot. So here, you pass the entrance to the parking first and the bag drop was at the end of the line. Then we had to exit, loop around the block in heavy traffic and then get back in the same line and enter the parking lot. In retrospect, we could have entered the parking with our luggage and rolled it to the porters. Better signage or guidance upon driving into the terminal would be most helpful. After the parking frustration, things went more smoothly and we boarded shortly after moving through the check-in line. RCI does a much better job of allowing passengers who desire, to take care of many of the check-in steps while at home and then checking people in with mobile devices instead of requiring everyone to get into long queues for the check-in desk.

Food and Beverage. We had great service all around. Bar service was the best I ever encountered. Service in all the restaurants was also solid. We were generally pleased with the food in all the complimentary restaurants. The decor was nice as well. Buffet food quality was a bit of a letdown in comparison to those we have experienced on other ships. We had the beverage package and it was nice to not need to sign a slip every time we ordered a beverage. Last time we cruised RCI, they still require a slip to be signed every transaction for some reason, perhaps for the extra gratuity pitch.

Entertainment - Choir of man was fun and the Levity comedians on board our sailing were great. We wanted to see the Elton John show, but by the time we found out about it, (not listed as an option prior to cruise) it was always sold out. Other than that, we were not enthused, and the entertainment paled in comparison to the offerings from RCI’s Anthem of the Seas sailing a similar itinerary.

Cabin Review

Family Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B2

Cabin was midship and convenient stair distance to the restaurants/shops. Shower and tub were nice to have and the bathroom was among the roomiest we have experienced. The heating and cooling worked great. Beds were fine. Only minor complaint is that the cabin and balcony could have been cleaner. Bathroom smelled like old urine. Culprit was the underside of the toilet seat. Also, closet doors were all smudged and there was tons of hair on the balcony furniture and floor. Steward was friendly, but on some nights our room still had not been made up by 8:30, and that is after leaving the room by four. This all adds up to the steward likely having more rooms than he could efficiently handle. While we did enjoy the towel animals he made every night, perhaps this was at the expense of cleaning?
