We traveled NCL about 9 years ago and decided we'd avoid it for quality of food and service. This ship, time slot and price was the only one that worked for us so we decided it was time for another try. Embarkation and disembarkation went surprisingly well. A plus for sure. Food and service the first two days showed definite improvement but feel off. Menu variety was mediocre. They did well with their steak and prime rib and Asian menu offerings. Breads and desserts were good. Pastries were lacking! Selection in the buffet was good but the main dining options were very mediocre. Seafood was very limited. We didn't indulge the MANY premium $ options. The preparation and presentation was also just average. Service was spotty. We had only two notable servers and several we would have liked to avoid. The ship; was laid out poorly. The grand stairways went no where useful. Strange. The main theatre was fine, no balcony or anything special, but secondary venues were very poor. They had several excellent secondary acts and put them in venues that accommodated 25 comfortably.? They loved using the main atrium for activities butt the acoustics were horrible and therefore to loud. It was also not comfortable for more than about 100. Very puzzling. I think a family outing would enjoy this ship more than a mature couple. The water slide was great, the ropes course very interesting and the normal rock climbing wall fun. One of my favorite activities is to sit and read, ocean watch, talk and listen to podcasts. This ship is lacking good sitting space in a big way, unless you want a chaise in the sun. They have plenty of top deck chaise lounges though they seem to put them away at night further depriving those who like to recline out of the sun and under the stars. Most ships have good seating at windows in lounges. This one doesn't! None of the elevators have visibility. Not a big deal but unusual on a monster ship. Our cruise was full and the crowded feeling and lines weren't as bad as I expected. Much better than Oasis class ships. General decor and appointments were very mediocre which the novelty of an ice bar doesn't make up for. The room; was nice and functional but I was shocked that an Oceanview room didn't have ANY seating. Neither did the inside rooms we saw. This was a real disappointment. And the entry page was unusually narrow. Anyone that could self identify with the big butts song would get stuck. The bed was comfy and our attendant nice but uncommunicative. I'm glad we gave them another try but I think it will be another decade or act of desperation before the next one.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Oceanview Stateroom with Large Picture Window
Cabin OB 5710
Shockingly no seating of any kind other than bed and small ottoman for vanity (useless). Very small entry way. Some people couldn't make it. Otherwise nice and functional. Comfy bed.
Deck 5 Inside Cabins, Outside Cabins
