We chose this cruise as our third week of cruising after being on Holland America's Nieuw Statendam docked right next to Edge. At the end of this write-up we will give a comparison of Nieuw Statendam to Edge. This was cruise number 48 for us, still keeping Celebrity as the most frequently cruised, while trying many other lines, the years..

Easy and earlier embarkation, which allowed us to stow our bags in the cabin. ( Note: NS also allowed us the bring our carry on to the room earlier). When we first walked into our cabin on Edge, we were quite impressed with the "Infinite Balcony" and how much larger the room appeared since the open balcony is part of the cabin. We played with buttons, got familiar with how to lower the top portion of the panoramic double hung window, and never regretted our choice of this type of cabin the whole week. The cabin appointments were nice, although the closet was a bit tight for two people. The bathroom was spacious with large shower, but the toilet is wedged into an impossibly tight space.

Since we booked a "Concierge" Balcony we found out by accident, that we could dine in one of the four main dining rooms for lunch. We liked the idea that there are four smaller dining rooms, and three weeks before we cruised was offered the opportunity to dine in each, if we made advance reservations. While the menus are largely the same, each has 3-4 selections in French, Italian, Mediterranean, or Cosmopolitan indigenous to that specific restaurant. We did not dine in any specialty restaurants as $55 - 65 pp per restaurant was outrageously expensive. On the whole, the food was good in each of the 4 dining rooms and service very good, attentive. If for some reason you did not finish your plate, immediately the waiter or floor manager came to your table, asking if they could replace it. For us the Windows Cafe  ( buffet) was very disappointing. Poor choices, not very good food. We ended us avoiding it, eating at the 4 main dining rooms as much as possible. Ditto for the burger joint on deck 14. VERY POOR burgers, pre-made and  mediocre fries. We tried it once and never went back. Overall .... for the price we paid .... Edge should make improvements in the food.
