We chose the Norwegian Sun with the encouragement of a friend who wanted to see Havana. The four of us had a good cruise on this recently refurbished ship. The public areas were updated with cheerful colors and yet remained comfortable and welcoming.
The cabins were clean and comfortable, and the cabin stewards were very attentive and efficient. We had one inside cabin and one balcony room. The inside was comfortable and definitely designed for only 2 guests. The shower and water pressure were great even if the bathroom felt small. Decent cabinet/closet space and even had a small refrigerator. The balcony cabin was wonderful - on the front of the ship, overlooking the bow. Plenty of room and great cabinet/closet space. Designed with a connecting door for the suite next door, I think the standard furnishings were a bit upgraded to match the suite.
The food was good. There was always something I liked on the menu. Service in the dining room was professional and efficient. We ate most of our meals in the dining room mostly because we like the service. It's a vacation - why not have someone wait on you? And having basic drinks, beer and wine included in the cabin price was wonderful. I doubt we drank more than usual but it was nice to have no bar bill at the end of the cruise!
Embarkation / disembarkation both were smooth and mostly effortless (if you ignore the long walk up the zigzag causeways). Local staff were helpful when questioned. Shuttle areas were easy to locate and OK to navigate.
