We have cruised many times before, but never to the Caribbean. We chose Celebrity for the all-inclusive drinks and great service and previous experience of cleanliness of their ships. We flew to Fort Lauderdale on a crowded British Airways plane where my husband and I could not even sit next to each other - and the alcohol ran out 4 hours into the flight! It was a long and uncomfortable 10 hours. Fortunately, the B Ocean Resort where we stayed for one night was great, the room was clean, big and had great views of the beach. Our package meant we had to buy our own transfers and a Yellow Cab was just $20. The next morning was hassle free, we checked out of the room then used Uber at $8 to get to the port for just after 11 a.m. Check-in was fast and efficient and we were able to relax in the sun on the pool deck whilst our room was prepared. The ship was in they exact style of Eclipse and Silhouette and, although busy, we never had a problem getting a table in the buffet or a sun lounger on deck. The cleanliness was not as on-point as previous sailings, however, the public loos were often messy and had run out of hand cloths. Previously, attendants were in the toilets constantly but not so on this sailing. The entertainment was mediocre and very much tailored to the American audience with several American comedians. There were only 2 "crew" shows which was a shame as they are excellent. We didn't see much in the way of activities, but that is our preference. Drinks on the Classic package were great but sometimes there was a long wait at the bars - they badly needed more servers. Our dining experience wasn't the best either, as a table of 2, we seemed to be low priority and were often kept waiting - but we didn't mind, we were on holiday! In fact, our waiter was so pre-occupied on the last night, we started to walk out until he noticed us and chased us down the restaurant to say goodbye! The food, as always, was excellent - hot and tasty and we had the best "surf and turf" ever (we ordered the steak separately, mind on lobster night!) We didn't try speciality dining, as we were satisfied with Opus dining room. There were staff constantly trying to sell the dining packages, but it was not as bad as previous cruises. Our cabin was comfortable and our steward did well, but I did notice after a couple of days that the drawers in the bathroom hadn't been cleaned out and had hair and dirt inside - so perhaps his attention to detail wasn't as good as it should have been. Ports:- Antigua, we did a private bus tour, a real bone-shaker but an unforgettable experience and a great way to see the Island. Barbados, we pre-booked snorkeling with turtles on the catamaran cruise. This was a superb way to spend a few hours in the afternoon - it wasn't over-crowded and the staff were amazing. We had a fantastic time, swam with several turtles, took a catamaran ride up the west coast with unlimited (alcoholic) drinks, we stopped at a beautiful beach for a swim and sunbathe, and then back to shore. We would certainly recommend this value-for-money excursion. St Lucia, we walked to a beach but it was very windy and the sea was rough - it was quite a long way. We got a water-taxi back to the ship. St Kitts, we just took a walk around the port for shopping which was great! St Maarten, we walked from the ship to a beautiful beach (about 10 minutes). We paid $20 for 2 sun loungers with parasol, private locker, washrooms, and 6 beers! We didn't move very far that day, it was great and the water was lovely to cool off in! Fort Lauderdale, we did the air-boat excursion before our early evening flight, which was a great way to spend a few hours. There was a bit of a queue retrieving our luggage in the port, but once on the coach all ran smoothly. The day was spent watching alligator and big-cat presentations, then a ride on the air-boat (we were disappointed we didn't see any wild-life!) There was a bit of a mix up on the coach going back to the airport, the driver was taking off the wrong bags at the wrong terminals. I hope everyone got to Miami airport ok with the right luggage! Our night flight home was a different experience for the crowded outbound flight, there was space and drinks! We loved our Caribbean cruise and will certainly be back, probably on Celebrity, but we will pre-book our seats on the aeroplane, for sure!

Very close to the back lifts on the port (left) side. But be warned! The cigarette smoke from deck 5 drifts right up to the balcony frequently. We initially thought our neighbours were smoking and at times it was quite unpleasant to have the balcony door open.
