This was our fifth cruise with Princess, so we were familiar with this cruise line. We have cruised with three other cruise lines, including Celebrity. We were looking for a two week cruise in the Caribbean, and there weren't a lot of options. That's why we booked this cruise, which was sold as a single cruise, but was really two one week cruises: one week in the western Caribbean, then back to Fort Lauderdale; then leaving for a week in the eastern Caribbean. The Pros: Embarkation was a breeze. We arrived around one o'clock expecting a line, but practically walked right aboard. The online registration, and the medallion they've started using obviously speeds things up. We did the five p.m. dining. The waiter and assistant waiter were both super.(or on the ship) for our second week. Dinners were fine, but nothing to get excited about. We went to the Steamers restaurant once (has a small cover charge), and enjoyed it. The buffet is typical - busy, but could always find a nice, quiet place to set. We loved the afternoon tea, but only went there twice...after all, how much can you eat between a full lunch and dinner shortly after five? International cafe is worth the visit for early morning coffee, and the occasional treat. Cabin steward, as with all the staff we encountered, were the best - always pleasant, and anxious to help. He often inquired about how things were, and if there was anything he could do to help. A couple of things requested were taken care of asap. Things were always kept clean and tidy around the ship. You could see that they worked hard to keep things in ship shape! Shows / entertainment were fine with the exception of a comment later...The entertainers in the bars and around the ship seemed to cater to an older demographic...which was fine with me. The quality of this music and guest entertainers was great. Excursions: We did the snorkeling at Belize, and loved it. There was great coral, and lots of fish. We did a clam shade rental and kayak rental at Roatan. It was okay, but the clam shade was kind of useless since, unlike the shades at Princess Cays, you couldn't adjust them to shade you from the sun. The Cons: Let me preface this by saying that I consider these cons minor, and would not be a deal breaker in terms of going with Princess again. In fact, there is a two week circle Caribbean on the same ship next year, and we'll most likely be doing it. Minor: I didn't enjoy shows put on by the ship's performers. I would describe them as LOUD. Minor: The configuration of their buffet area is kind of unique and different. Personally, I think it causes congestion around the areas where you pick up food. Minor: (Actually not so minor): As mentioned earlier, this was booked as one cruise. But, three of the shows from the first week were repeated in the second week. And, even the jokes from our cruise director at the beginning or end of the shows were the same!!! That was disappointing. In summary, we were somewhat concerned after reading some of the reviews about the Caribbean Princess on this website. However, the negatives, in my opinion, were rather minor when you consider the bigger picture. We appreciate how hard people work to make our holiday a pleasant experience, and we did have a great cruise. When disembarking, would have loved to be staying another week ... or two.

Relaxing and a "come back rested" cruise!

Cabin Review

Balcony
Cabin BE B223
Cabin was standard, and a small balcony that we enjoyed. Washroom was small...but that's typical.
