  3. Norwegian Bliss
Had an awesome vacation on the Bliss. This is our 15th cruise and fourth Norwegian and have cruised with all the major cruise lines. We were on it the last week of march. The boat had lots of kids on board as it was still march break in many areas of the US. I would probably go on one of these ships at times when there would be fewer kids. The entertainment on this ship is top notch. We loved the Jersey Boys it was really well done. Havana has beautiful costumes and singing and it is a much better production show then you see on most cruise lines. We caught all three beatle shows, two in the cavern club-the early years show was really good. The second show there was some technical difficulty and they actually cut the show short. If you want to get a seat you need to be there at least a half hour early as it fills up fast. Their last night show is in the theatre but was at a weird time 7:30. There were plenty of seats for everyone. This show was a combination of the two shows they performed earlier in the week They had two other bands and a duo that played in different locations throughout the ship They also had a couple of deck parties that were really good and one at H20 where we were able to do lots of dancing Most nights there was not enough time to get to all of the different things that were happening. It is a really great ship if you like to be entertained at night. Food. The variety at the buffet for breakfast and lunch was very good. We ate all our dinners at manhatten, savour and taste and only had to wait for a table for five minutes on the last night. The food was good, some nights the menu was harder to select an option. Service was always very good. The observation Lounge was a great place to get snacks from 3 to 5. On some evenings they had Tatiana playing the piano and singing. Sounded like Celine Dion. The Observation Lounge is absolutely beautiful, on a carribean cruise seems like a waste of space as it is huge, but I understand that it has been designed like this for Alaska and will work very well for that. We are in our 50’s and on the older end compared to the bulk of the people on this cruise who were 20-45 years old. The racetrack takes up a lot of space and therefore many of the outdoor spaces are really crowded like the back H20 space would have been nice to have a pool there. Also the main pool area is crazy busy,we always managed to find less crowded areas on the deck above. One of our favourite spots for the daytime away from the busyness was the boardwalk where they have comfy sofas. This was also a great area to go walking instead of the track above the main pool which again is crazy busy. Tortola They have a new port area which was built only a couple of years ago. It’s probably one of the nicest port areas in the Caribbean. We went to garden cane beach. It is 8 dollars each way and they give you a wristband. You have to prepay the return and they told us that they returned on the hour which we found inconvenient. We would have stayed longer but the beach was filled with people from our ship so we left at noon. Normally we would have stayed till at least 1. We had to be back on board by 2:30. It took approximately 20 minutes to get there through the mountains on crazy steep roads. The beach was really nice. Paid 20 for two chairs and an umbrella. It was less busy if you kept walking further in each direction. Nassau We took the Jitney to Bahamar. The number 10. Cost 1.50 per person. We took a cab back for 20. We walked through the Hyatt section first then down to the beach. Right before you get to the beach there are some beautiful flamingos. Walked along the beach and down the pier and up through SLS. It is geared for 20 and 30 somethings. Both properties are beautiful, the Hyatt being more spread out. Glad we did this, it’s something different than going to Atlantis. St thomas One of our favourite islands Went to Meagans bay. 8 dollars there and back. Entry fee is 5 per person. We always go down to the area of the beach on the left. It is much less crowded and you can enjoy the beauty of this gorgeous bay. It is still close to the public bathrooms. Norwegian has done it right not having smoking in the majority of areas on the ship. If you are a smoker this ship is not for you. Things I missed having was an outdoor area to eat at near the buffet Many other ships have large areas where you can eat outside, the Bliss has the covered areas which are beside the pool and that is it. Overall, we found the ship to be a lot of fun. There is a lot of walking to be done, so I wouldn’t recommend for anyone with mobility issues. Most days we took the stairs to get our exercise to balance out all the extra calories. Boarding and Leaving the ship were the quickest and smoothest that we had on any cruise. Also, for any Canadians- we booked fairly last minute with Sunwing and flew out the same day. Our package included transfers which were with Norwegian. All went smoothly. I found that Sunwing did not really give a lot of information regarding the transfers. It would have been good to know that it was Norwegian itself that the transfers were with. We had a great cruise, and would cruise this class of ship on Norwegian again.
