We had to cancel this cruise in 2018, due to an injury. So we were happy to be able to go on it this year and get to visit some islands we have missed in the past. We had a very quick check in and were on board withing 30 minutes of arriving at the port. Our debarkation was almost quicker. We were off the ship and on the way to I-95 in less than 45 minutes. In the past, we have waited hours, especially in Tampa. Great cruise, weather cooperated. We were in 9283 and had Dedy as our cabin steward. He was attentive, but not overly attentive. Our dining team was led by Gary. He was fantastic and made sure my gluten allergy was taken care of in the kitchen. We had our dinners in the Sapphire (lower level) and our breakfast in Blush (lower level). Lunch was mostly Guys Burger Joint and also Guys Pig and Anchor. Fairly decent BBQ, though I never saw any smokers going. So, wonder if it was done off the ship and reheated with sauce. We were entertained a lot by M J String Trio. A group of violinist and cellist out of Poland. Excellent trio. We purchased their two CDs and enjoyed them on the drive north. Will look for another Carnival cruise down the road, but have two more cruises coming up. One in Sept to New England and the other in 8/2020 to Alaska with the family.

The Breeze was a breeze!

Cabin Review

Balcony
Cabin 8C 9283
Very nice mid ship cabin. Little smaller than some, little bigger than others.
Small bath (normal for ships), but useful. We would have appreciated a sliding door
on the shower. There was a shower curtain, but it didn't reach the floor and water would
splash out and onto the floor, so we had to put down a bath towel so we wouldn't slip. (the shower mat was about the size of a place mat)
We've used this type of shower head before and it was easy to get the temperature just right.
Had 3 closets, 1 with hangers and the life jackets on the shelf above. One with hangers and open shelving, then one with just shelves. There was also a vanity along the wall with small drawers and cubby holes. We had no issues with storing clothing and accessories.
There is a sofa with a small coffee table. The bed, a king, was pretty comfortable. There were very small built in night stands. Just enough size to hold my CPAP machine. By the way, there are no plugs on the bed side of the cabin to plug in things like this. I travel with an extra 9 ft. extension cord to run from the vanity to the night stand.
The vanity has one plug plate with 2 plugs. We bring along a unit that plugs into one and it has 3 plugs in it, plus 2 USB ports for charging.
The balcony was OK. Typical 2 chairs and a very small table for your beverages. There is a fridge for your beverages and medications that need to be kept cool.
All in all, a nice cabin. Would book this one again.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Island Tour
A decent tour of the island. Our tour guide, Austin, was very good. English was excellent. Only one stop for bathrooms. A few vendors there and they were very nice, not pushy at all. Saw some free roaming mules and horses, which was interesting. This island was hit hard by recent hurricanes. There are still a lot of structures that were partially or totally destroyed. Sad for such a beautiful island.
We enjoyed this excursion. It was easy for this disabled veteran to get off and on.

Shuttle could't let us out near the entrance. Had a longer walk than expected, but getting checked in and on board was quick.

We did get off to see if there were any local vendors. Getting off was easy. The terminal is right there. Large empty building, then a walk up a long colonnade. When we got to the end of the pier, there were quite a few with tables and such sat up along the sidewalk, no grouped vendors like you see in most ports. A few were aggressive in selling their wares. There were at least 6 panhandlers there too.
We looked at a few things then returned to the ship.
