We had an amazing time on the Norwegian Breakaway! Embarkation was extremely smooth and fast - we got off of the shuttle and walked straight through the line without stopping until we made it to the desk. Everything was so fast and easy and there was no hold up during the process. The ship was gorgeous and so clean, too! We had an aft balcony cabin, and it was such a great room! We loved our balcony! We were on the 13th floor and could hear music from Spice H2O at night, but there was only 1 night that it bothered us. That night I believe the bass was turned up way too much, as everything in our room rattled. The other nights it wasn't loud and didn't seem to bother us at all. Our favorite restaurant was Le Bistro - we loved the atmosphere as well as our food. The food was phenomenal! Matter of fact, on our next cruise, we want to be sure Le Bistro is on the ship we choose so we can experience it again (or maybe twice!). There was so much to do every day, and unfortunately we didn't get to do everything we wanted to, but we were never bored of anything. All of the staff that we encountered on the ship were so friendly and helpful. We cannot wait to book our next adventure with NCL!

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Lamanai Mayan Ruins

This excursion was absolutely amazing! The bus ride is long, but the tour guide talks and gives some info regarding the area and the culture. There's a river safari boat ride that was a ton of fun! Seeing the Mayan ruins was completely out of this world and was an amazing experience. This was something that was on our bucket list and was the whole reason we booked this specific cruise. What an experience!

Chankanaab National Park Tour

We decided to spend the day at Chankanaab Park. We did an all inclusive package that gave us entrance to the park, snorkeling gear, and a buffet. The Park was absolutely beautiful! Plenty of places to set up camp. We went down the far end and was able to find 2 loungers under a big canopy for 2. It was very nice and comfortable. We snorkeled, which was fun and exciting, although I did have some issues with the inflatable life vest - I tried not to let that ruin my experience. The buffet was pretty good - we found some stuff to eat, though it was a very random assortment of food. The overall experience was very good and we would go back!

Costa Maya

We booked 2 loungers at the Tropicante. As soon as we got off the ship we made our way through a very elaborate cruise port. It was very nice and plenty to see and do in there, but it was so big that it felt like it took forever to exit. We passed all of the shuttles and found the taxis parked outside the gate. We told them where we needed to go and they got us there promptly and safely. Once we got out of the cab we were greeted by Rafael who works for the Tropicante and he escorted us to the beachfront and straight to our reserved loungers which we requested under the shade and it was the perfect spot. They knew that we were celebrating our honeymoon and were sure to set us up with some tequila shots when we were ready. We had a great lunch and the overall price of our food and drinks was very affordable. We shopped on the Malecon and found some great gifts to bring home. I wish we had more time that day in Costa Maya, but it was a short day.

City Tour

We had plenty of time between getting off of the ship and our flight home, so we decided to book the Past, Present, & Perfect tour that takes you on a bus ride around the city. Our luggage was stored safely under the bus, so we did not have to worry about it while on the tour and any of the stops we made. It was a great way to waste some time instead of sitting at an airport for a late flight. I wish it could have lasted longer, but 3 hours was still a really good amount of time.
