First let me say that we booked the Haven on the Epic after my wonderful experience on the NCL Escape. The Haven Epic is substandard both by physical limitations and lack of resources.

I felt that the first NCL reservation agent that worked with me (Leo) was more interested in the sale and not in customer service. From room location, flights, and lack of information. After booking and poor information we talked to a supervisor and changed agents, to Raymond Dumke, an experienced NCL agent, who took great care of us.

During booking -the agent did not disclosure that only red eye flights from the west coast were available, if you take the “perk” of free air. The agent did credit us $150 on board credit each when we challenged the lack of disclosure.

Cabin Review

Aft-Facing Penthouse with Balcony

Cabin H6

Room: We were in Aft Haven "penthouse" which the name implies top floor, we had people on top of us, scraping patio chairs. The room was spacious, especially the balcony which had 2 deck chairs a small table and 2 full lounges. The description of the bathing facilities did not include that the tub/shower entry was 3 foot off the bathroom floor. I fell the first time getting in, due to no bath mat and the tub was very slippery. (we had a bath mat brought to us). We found nail clippings on the balcony floor from previous guests as well as a used one touch blood strip on the carpet by the bed left from previous guests. We informed our butler who resolved immediately. I was upset to step on a biohazard item barefoot within the first hour of being in our room.

This room is directly above the engines, and the view is fabulous. Due to the location you are acutely aware of the engines sound and vibration. It concerned us, with the Epic’s history of engine problems (Feb 2019) that the engines were repetitively restarted starting at 4:00pm , and unable to start till almost midnight. We remained in our room (directly over the engines) that eve and lost a bit of confidence both in the staff announcements (they said there was a Medical emergency) and the seaworthiness of the ship. .We were not surprised that the captain skipped the private island, the next day considering we were 8 hours behind. They did refund our port charges for that island.
