My husband and I have grown children and are traveling now for a little us time. We chose this cruise based on ports of call. My husband is an avid scuba diver and this cruise included some nice dive areas. However, there were a lot of unsupervised children on this cruise making our experience a little unpleasant. The buffet is set up weird with some weird options and very congested. We opted to eat in restaurants all nights except one. The complimentary restaurants were slow to get served but offered a nice quiet dinner option. The four wheeling excursion in Costa Maya was okay however the four wheeling time was short and it was not exactly a jungle. The beach and pool after were filled with people begging you to buy stuff nonstop and did not prove to be a relaxing experience. The pool was also a joke. We opted to leave immediately and go back to the boat. Costa Maya port stores are extremely expensive. Selling items like sunblock for $26 when all other ports had it for $12-$15. Our cabin was layed out nicely but carpet was dingy and the room had a slight odor. Our porter was nice but it seemed like he never vacuumed our room and occasionally missed other items like emptying garbage, taking dirty glasses, etc. The beds were horribly uncomfortable and hard. It was surprising also there was no television channels other than two news channels. The shops lacked reasonably priced items found on other ships like hats, sunblock, bathing suit coverups, etc. On a positive note, the show Million Dollar Quartet was excellent, the comedians were funny and the house band and singer were excellent. The games were funny but they kept letting the same couples do them rather than picking new ones. The biggest issue we faced was lack of information at first on how to schedule dinner and shows. The interactive boards on the ship conflicted with the actual way to book shows and that. All in all I would suggest this cruise for families with kids because that is whom they seem to cater to.
