PRO Tables and chairs outside of the buffet area were easy to find - some of the other NCL ships have switched to large couches which really limits the amount of people who can find a chair outside in the shade. Thankfully this ship still has regular tables and chairs! Breakfast - available until 11am - wish they had a breakfast line until 2pm but 11am is better than the old 9:30am! Margaritaville is a nice complimentary breakfast option but does have a more limited buffet. OSheehans was also a nice alternative breakfast option. They brought out extra coffee canisters each morning and that really helped eliminate the morning coffee line. Food - loved the real hand dipped ice-cream available at the buffet every day. Crepe station was a hit but they only had it a few days. Waterfront was wonderful and not windy and the service at the waterfront outside bars was wonderful. What a fun place to watch sail aways! Ropes Course was lots of fun - try it! Cabin: Fantastic bathroom for a non-suite - large shower. Room itself was REALLY narrow. Entertainment: Theater waiters did a great job of taking drink orders before the shows. Two shows were excellent: Burn Floor and Quartet. LOVED Howl at the Moon (dueling pianos) in Headliners. Cagney's - excellent meal. CON Arcade: recently cruised with Royal Caribbean and the arcade has 2-3 games that were free each day. My kids really missed this RC perk. Atrium - way too small with very limited seating and lots of the activities happened in this space. OSheehans used for atrium overflow seating and the bar/waiter service was really slow Food: Really stingy with the cookies - came out around 3pm and were gone immediately. Tried La Cucina for the first time - food tasted dry/reheated and we had early reservations. Pictures taken in the specialty restaurants were not a part of the photo package Music in the Tropicana was way too loud - loved the music but turn it down a bit please Ropes course had a large line every day. They need to extend the hours.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony
Cabin MA 13224
Cabin was REALLY narrow. Balcony was REALLY small. Bathroom was large and shower was normal size, not ship size. Closet was hard to get into as it was really close to the couch but we managed. Only two drawers under the couch. I would have preferred drawers instead of the shelves in the closet. The Jade has awesome drawers that open at the side of the closet which is a much better set up. One double outlet, no charging plugs by the bed. They should really upgrade the lights by the bed to include charging outlets.

This room has a pull down from ceiling bed over the couch. This bed feature worked really well.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Costa Maya
Disneyland kind of port. Everything was build just for the cruise ships so it is kind of in the middle of nowhere. Shops VERY EXPENSIVE. Save your shopping for Cozumel. Example: Mexican blanket $45, came down to $35 cash when we walked away. Found in Cozumel for $8 and two for $10.

  • Beach
Playa Mia - From the NCL port it takes 20 minutes to reach the beach. We were only offered full bar tickets- even for the kids $65 each through Resorts for a Day. Kids could have had tickets that were much less expensive.

Staff was VERY accommodating but it was a very busy day so if you want a seat where you can see the beach or one of the pools you need to get there when they open. Lots of very unhappy folks who waited 20+ min to get a chair and then the chairs were broken. Umbrellas cost extra $8 but you will need one as NO SHADE to speak of.

Food - OK...nothing amazing but OK. Drinks limited but if you drink a normal drink you will do OK. Weird brand names (I'm guessing local). Shops were expensive. Do your shopping at the port shops as they have much better prices. Example: Mexican Blanket $15 at Playa Mia. At the port $8 and $5 each if you buy two.

Facilities are nice but expensive. Not enough seating around the pool area. Everyone was searching for shade and it was very hard to find. Beach was really rocky so little kids need beach shoes to wear into the water.

This is a private island BUT your NCL room key does not work to purchase anything on this island. Drink package does not apply to this island.
