Celebrity Reflection, March 11, 2019, veranda cabin 6199 We consider the Celebrity Reflection the best ship in the fleet currently. The ship itself is in excellent condition and is well run by the staff. This particular cruise was essentially up to the standards expected of Celebrity. The food and service were generally good. There were no issues with deck chair availability. My time dining was flawless because we booked our times prior to sailing. This is a must or you’ll have trouble eating when you want. Entertainment was generally average to poor. Shows in the theater are average at best. No headline type shows like those found on other cruise lines. Pool and bar entertainment was generally poor. No music played to enhance destination experience. Band was average but other entertainers were rather boring. Night life is lacking with very limited venues. Only one deck party and it wasn’t very good. Cartagena, Columbia is great stop, especially if you haven’t been there before. In the past we have hired our own driver at the dock for city tours. You really can’t walk to anything worthwhile. Colon, Panama is kind of a wasted stop. You are not within walking distance of much other than the little shopping area near the ship. It has very little to do there. Good stop to see some of the canal stuff if you haven’t done it before. Not the safest place to wander the streets. A very good ship tour in Cozumel is the Fury Catamaran snorkel and beach tour. It lasts about 4 hours. Snorkeling location isn’t great but there are plenty of small colorful fish. Very good active photographer in the water will take your picture for $12.00. Beach is excellent with large float park in the water, clean sand, beach chairs, kayaks, stand-up boards, life jackets and floats all at no additional cost. Beer and margaritas are served at no charge on the boat and the beach. Line dancing with crew on the way back was fun. Whole crew is very active and friendly. They are constantly delivering drinks and intermingling with guests. Edwin was especially friendly and always about with the guests. About 50 minutes snorkeling and 2 hours at beach. Food available for extra cost at beach. Toilets at beach. Cost was $79.50. Another good stop was Nohechkay beach at Costa Maya, Mexico. If you want to get away from the cruise port this is an inexpensive thing to do. It’s a 10 minutes cab ride for $8.00 plus tip. We got 2 lounge chairs under a thatched roof hut for no charge. Beers are $3.00 and mixed drinks and wine are $4.00. Food is pretty good with large portions. 5 drinks and 2 meals with lounge chairs cost $29.00. Beach is nice. Lagoon is very shallow and calm. Very safe. Costa Maya port itself is well worth seeing. It is designed and built for cruise ships. Lots to see and do there. At the end of the dock there are shops, Dolphin encounter, pool with swim up bar, show with locals, tequila tasting, bars, waterpark with slides, lounge chairs and beach. Some items do cost extra. Liked availability of catholic mass, no shuffling machines at blackjack tables and gym. Disliked smell of cigarette smoke on balconies on deck 6, starboard side from deck 5 below. Lack of rule enforcement on pool deck with regard to glass in pool and topless sunbathing. 6 to 5 payout and no even money rules for black jack at black jack tables unless you play $50 minimum or higher. In summary, if you’re looking for a cruise that provides very good food and service, a nice room and a generally quiet and relaxing experience on the ship for a very good price, then this is the cruise ship and line for you. I don’t think it’s a good trip for people looking for activities and night life on the ship. It’s not very good for children either.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Verandah (partially obstructed view)
Cabin 2C 6199
Rooms are spacious with good amenities. Bathrooms are also spacious as cruise accommodations go. Smell of cigarette smoke on balcony. This is starboard side from deck 5 below. Not sure how high or how far forward or aft you must get to get away from smell. Get port side if you can. Nice TV but has little to watch.
