Celebrity Reflection, March 11, 2019, veranda cabin 6199
We consider the Celebrity Reflection the best ship in the fleet currently. The ship itself is in excellent condition and is well run by the staff. This particular cruise was essentially up to the standards expected of Celebrity. The food and service were generally good. There were no issues with deck chair availability. My time dining was flawless because we booked our times prior to sailing. This is a must or you’ll have trouble eating when you want.
Entertainment was generally average to poor. Shows in the theater are average at best. No headline type shows like those found on other cruise lines. Pool and bar entertainment was generally poor. No music played to enhance destination experience. Band was average but other entertainers were rather boring. Night life is lacking with very limited venues. Only one deck party and it wasn’t very good.
Rooms are spacious with good amenities. Bathrooms are also spacious as cruise accommodations go. Smell of cigarette smoke on balcony. This is starboard side from deck 5 below. Not sure how high or how far forward or aft you must get to get away from smell. Get port side if you can. Nice TV but has little to watch.
Pre cruise hotel La Quinta Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport, Hollywood was excellent. No issues. Nice room. Clean. Decent breakfast. Good pool area. Excellent shuttle service. Uber to cruise terminal was $16.00. Nice lake view. Plenty of food choices with in walking distance.
7 mile beach always a nice stop. $10.00 cab ride. Beds and umbrella are pricey. $41.00 with $2 beach admission. Food, toilets and pool with swim up bar.
Another good stop was Nohoch Kay Restaurant Bar Beach Club at Costa Maya, Mexico. If you want to get away from the cruise port this is an inexpensive thing to do. It’s a 10 minute cab ride for $8.00 plus tip. We got 2 lounge chairs under a thatched roof hut for no charge. Beers are $3.00 and mixed drinks and wine are $4.00. Food is pretty good with large portions. 5 drinks and 2 meals with lounge chairs cost $29.00. Beach is nice. Lagoon is very shallow and calm. Very safe. Costa Maya port itself is well worth seeing. It is designed and built for cruise ships. Lots to see and do there. At the end of the dock there are shops, Dolphin encounter, pool with swim up bar, show with locals, tequila tasting, bars, waterpark with slides, lounge chairs and beach. Some items do cost extra.
