Crown Princess Cruise Review by genkay

Trip Details
  • Sail Date: Mar 2019
  • Destination: the Southern Caribbean

Have been aboard the Crown Princess a few times. She seems a tired old tub with an increasingly uninterested service crew. Paint fumes sent allergies into overdrive and I spent the entirety of cruise coughing, choking, and feeling ill. Do not spend US$40 on the "Magen's Bay Scenic drive". Grab a taxi and save your money for the gouging you will take when you get to the concession at Magens's Bay. Chair and umbrella rental are DYI, unless you provide a compulsory "tip" of US$5 to the shysters standing by the equipment. Driver dropped us off with no instruction and nowhere near chair concession.

Entertainment is also tired! When a fresh talent, such as a comedian, come aboard, it's SRO!

Sanctuary? Lotus Thermal Spa? Forget that if you have mobility issues! Elevators to these places are out of order.

I am seriously thinking of canceling my Transatlantic in September after this experience

Beach

Concessionaire for chairs and umbrellas does not help you move equipment to your selected spot or install umbrella. Only with a "tip" of US$5 will the "gentlemen" near the chairs help. Manager defends this practice with the reason that this is a public beach. SO WHAT? I am pretty certain that the authority who issues the permit does not care about the fine details of how she chooses to run her business. Further, she knows nothing about defusing a situation. She knows only how to add fuel to the fire. By definition, a tip is not compulsory. Could have been informed at time of rental that set up is DYI. Lots of old folks who could barely climb stairs, much less haul chairs and umbrella over resistant hot sand to selected place.
