Sail Date: Mar 2019
Cabin: Aft-facing Balcony Stateroom

We chose to do this cruise late and was surprised when only 60 days out and they had a Aft Handicapped Accessible room available. This will be the third time we had a aft Balcony , love the room, hate that the elevators are so far away and there are always 2 or 3 service carts to move, which is a challenge for someone in a wheelchair. Love the ship, wish they had elevators to get to all decks. I saw they had lifts to go higher but I like to be able to come & go as I please. The observation lounge is nice but I see it as a waste of space, but I guess on a Alaska Cruise it would be useful. Besides what I mentioned the ship is very accessible for a wheelchair. I brought with me tools to repair my chair or if I get a flat, but they were confiscated at the port, it took us 3 days of explaining to security on board , finally they gave me back all my repair parts but no tools, those were given back on the last night. Not sure what I would do to the ship or passengers with a adjustable wrench and some tire irons to change a tube. The ports were nice (have been to them before). Also the guest services people need to know where people who are departing the ship in a wheelchair (not needing help) where they should go. We received bad information and was waiting 3rd in line to depart on the wrong end of the ship when we were told to go to the other end, I said no way can we get thru 4-500 people waiting on line. Finally when we voiced our opinion did we get escorted to the stern by a guy in white. But all in all we had a good time
