Pros: Food in the main dining room as well as the buffet food was very good, contrary to reviews we read before booking. Nice and positive surprise! Ship is big but doesn´t feel big because of good layout. Never felt crowded either, though there were 4.000 guests on board. We booked a guarantee inside cabin and got a free upgrade to a balcony cabin! Decoration and finishings are really nice, classy and modern, throughout the ship. Lovely stateroom with nothing missing (though I wonder how overweight people shower in that cubicle). Staff was really nice and professional. MSC wrist bands and app are very handy novelties. The MSC Seaside has a very mixed clientele which makes it the most international ship we´ve ever been on. This really adds to the travel experience. Cons: Though we booked AND paid our extras 2 weeks in advance, the ship did not have that info. Had to fight for over an hour at the reception desk and even to pay extra to get things done. Seems to happen to hundreds of guests. True: we got our extra pay credited and in the end all was OK. But the MSC systems of ship and shore seem totally not aligned. Very annoying and customer unfriendly. Waste of everybodies time. Entertainment is a tad cheap and repetitive. Always song and dance. Never a full band on main stage. No full bands anywhere on the boat except for one venue. Single instrumentalists always the same. Not one surprising act, but of course the unavoidable white party and all characters of the YMCA video. We booked a 14-day cruise but were not told that in fact we were booking two back-to-back 7-day cruises. So all entertainment, all menus and all events were repeated in the second week. Its something customers should be warned for before booking. There is no running track. So runners run through buffet areas and deckchair areas. Annoying for both runners and other guests who have to be constantly on the lookout. Remarkable design mistake. It´s not possible to be in the front of the ship so if you like the sensation of arriving to port in the morning this is definitely not the ship for you. Not possible to disconnect the AC in the room. So when you open the balcony door the energy waste starts. AC in “seated” public rooms (theatre, restaurant) often too cold. Last but not least: MSC´s failing automated system did not lift the reservated sum on our creditcard after we paid our balance fully. We had to wait for two weeks after returning home until it automatically disappeared, meanwhile having a part of our creditcard blocked by MSC. MSC told us to contact our CC-company but they said only MSC could lift it. MSC did not make any effort to do so. Very poor performance of MSC, their systems are just outdated and bad I guess. All in all it was a great cruise but we know other lines are better...

It was good, but there is still a lot MSC can improve.
