Let me start off by saying this, I am in no way sending this email to bash Carnival Fantasy Cruise. I just want to share what my wife and I experience during our cruise this time. We took the Cruise leaving out January 21st -26th 2019. I always take a cruise every year in January . It's something I have done for years now. Gives me something to look forward during the cold winter months. I had been looking forward to this trip since May 2018. I have been for years Carnivals biggest spokes person. I have told all my family and friends to take a Carnival cruise for the experience alone. This time I would have been absolutely embarrassed if any of my family and friends would have taken this cruise with us. We traveled from Kentucky to Mobile Alabama only to be told that our cruise would be delayed until Tuesday morning or we could have cancelled and went back home. Now looking back I wish I would have opted for a full refund and traveled back home. But we chose to go on the now 4 day cruise. This experience did not live up to all my past experiences I have had with Carnival . This ship did not seem like it was properly stocked , equipped and was very short staffed to handle the passengers on board. There was not enough help on board in any department for it to run efficiently. Which made for very poor service. This ship was not very well maintained from water fountains not working , to the windows being very dirty. We tried to call Guest relations several times just to get clean towels. We would have to wait all day and try catch a house keeper in the hallway in the evenings between 6-9 pm to get fresh towels. In the past every morning housekeeping would come early to clean and stock the room for the day. Maybe if I could have talked to someone I could have had them change the bedding that smelled like sour milk. Or the fact that we had no robes in our closet and mold around in our showers. There was a strong ammonia smell in the hallway at nights that was so strong it would give you a headache. Never in the past did we have a sign saying housekeeping was only available for three hours in the evening. Could be because they was being utilized else where during the day because of being so short staffed ? Which leads me to one of my favorite parts of a Cruise. The food the food was only served at certain times of the day. This is not at all what it has been it in past. Breakfast was served from 6 am to 9 am, from 9 am to 12 nothing, 12-3 lunch, from 3-6 nothing, and 6 pm was dinner. I went and asked for a Ruben sandwich, usually again the past its prepared right there in front of you. Not this time, it was handed to me from a cooler. not freshly made. All the bread on ship was very stale. No matter which meal it was served at it was stale. At the end of each trip I am always dreading it because I have always had such a great time. This time our bags were packed by the door and patiently waiting for our floor to be called. We could not get home soon enough!!! Even tho a refund was offered for missing the first day of our cruise. It would have been nice to get what was actually owed to us. We was owed $217 for the day. We was only paid out $117 . My mistake that I did not have that corrected as soon as I counted it. But the music was so loud I could not hear what they lady was saying to us. I wont say that I wont ever take a cruise with you guys again but after this experience , I don't know if you guys would be my first choice.
