This was the 11th Cruise for my husband and I, 6 on Carnival, 3 on Royal Carri bean and 1 on Celebrity. We were very excited to be going on a Princess Cruise, as we were always told that they were the top of the line, the best. Boy were we disappointed! We are not picky people and usually let most things slide.... but dang! Lets start here, Embarkation was very fast and easy, We arrives at 1pm and was on board with in minutes and able to access our room. The room was nicely arranged with a very large closet. This is were our troubles started... 1st NEVER NEVER choose anytime dinning! We had no choice, You can't make reservations, there is never a table available (Even at 8:30 PM) with out a 30 min wait and then they try to seat you with other people at large tables. After the first night of waiting we would go to the Dinning room after 9pm if there was a wait we went to the buffet. Needless to say we ate in the buffet the rest of the trip. In all of our past cruises, the dinning experience is one of the things we looked forward to. The food was so-so, very strange choices, with not too much to fall back on that looked like normal American food. (ex. Meatloaf that was more of a mystery meat, strange taste and stuffed w/eggs and carrots) We ate a lot of Salads! If you like fish, then your in luck! There is NO beverage stations in any of the outside decks, only in the buffet dinning rooms, so a long walk you must do, the coffee is VERY strong, we added half hot water, the milk is kept in metal pitchers NOT on any ice, which is fine during meal time, but scary in between. (Room service milk comes in juice box type cartons)There is always Iced tea available, which is good. Juice is only available in the AM, but you have to ask for it, and is warm, ask for ice. We returned to our Room on the 1st night around 10:30pm to change our cloths and OMG the room was never turned down, no chocolates on the pillow, no morning breakfast order card, no NOTHING. We let it go... Night 2 the same thing... we let it go.. Day three,, it was skipped in the AM (No clean towels today)but turned down in the evening (this was the only and last time it was done at night) We have NEVER seen such poor service by a room attendant before. We ended up going to Passenger services the last night of our trip to complain and remove 1/2 of his tip, they could not remove just his, only the entire 10.50 daily charges, so we did that and tipped only the people that were there for us via envelopes they gave us. We are Smokers but are respectful and DON'T smoke in our stateroom, only in the outside designated areas. It is very limited on the decks, about 10 tables in the Neptune's Reef pool and about 5 in the Terrace pool behind the Caribe Buffet dinning room in the rear of the ship, the problem was the table and lounge chair saving, fine we understand space is limited, but when non smokers save these tables, which was most of them, we have no where else to go, we can not go to their areas. The staff could not do anything about this, even though they state there is a no saving policy, it is NOT enforced. We enjoy Cruising and plan to go again in September, but we can Guarantee that it WONT be on Princess! PS if you are a Smoker Don't buy your Smokes on board (Marlboro 26 a carton on board and they keep them til the last day) , wait till you get to St Martin $70 for 5 cartons on the Dutch side along Front St. And they don't take take away when you board the ship. This is the least expensive Island to Shop in!
