Summary: The Celebrity Edge strives to be a luxury ship, but without the associated service. It is an amazing ship, and perhaps one of the smoothest rides regardless of the weather. The Avant Garde decorations and statutes are interesting, if not somewhat strange. Many passengers said they were a waste of money and useable space. They might appeal to art aficionados. The downside is they remove some of the ambience found in older Celebrity ships. Many passengers voiced concern that Celebrity has neglected the passenger (except the elite in suites) at the expense of a fancy ship. So if they are trying to be a luxury cruise company, they have a long way to go in customer satisfaction. One aspect of this is the high end charges for everything. The standard beverage package no longer works in most restaurants or bars except for the basic drinks. Fancier drinks, like those in the Martini Bar, all start around $20, putting them out-of-reach of the classic beverage package ($9 limit). This did NOT use to be this way on previous Celebrity sailings. Internet is good, but also very expensive. Now for some details…

The ship:

The room was very nice and comfortable. The "infinite balcony" or whatever you called it was nice. Only problem was the sticky window opening (again, a new ship minor mechanical glitch). The bathroom was very functional with no issues. Bed was perfect and a variety of pillows means you can find one the works for you.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class Stateroom with Veranda

Cabin C2

Infinity window kept sticking when trying to open it. But other than, a very nice room. I would NOT pick Deck 12 as you are below 14 which has all the activities, so you will hear running, bands, and more.

Port Reviews

Key West

Hop on/hop off tour. Was very interesting. Long wait for the shuttles.

Costa Maya

New beach resort not yet finished (pool is coming). Very private and great service from staff. It was extremely relaxing. Long taxi trip back, but no big deal.

Cozumel

Beach was excellent with lots of options for kids.

Cozumel

Fury catamaran was excellent. Needed more time snorkeling and not having everyone all jammed into one group. Beach was excellent. Crew was outstanding and very entertaining.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Historic tour was nice but too long. It only left 5 minutes for the rum tasting. Cave tour was outstanding.
