Norwegian Bliss Cruise Review by marypalmer123

Trip Details
  • Sail Date: Feb 2019
  • Destination: the Eastern Caribbean
  • Cabin Type: Balcony Stateroom

We joined with the group '5 o clock somewhere' featuring 'Jimmy Buffet' and country western music for an Eastern Caribbean cruise. We were aware that Norwegian has the best 'cruise ship' reputation in the trade. Norwegian lived up to our expectations and more. The food was superb, the service was excellent and the crew was extremely efficient and well organized. We danced on the aft deck to live music, which was incredibly romantic. Our cabin, a bedroom suite with a walkout balcony on the 12th deck, was made up three times per day and spotlessly clean.

It was a dream vacation. The swimming pool area might be an issue for some as fellow travelers 'tagged' tightly, packed lounge chairs .... which were never vacated. We live in Florida and we have a pool, so we really didn't mind. The kids aboard loved the water slides!

The ship's entertainment and off-shore excursions were brilliant. I would highly recommend the 'Nassau/Bahamas open buggy tour' (ATV's). Our guide took us through a maze of streets and traffic in the 'old quarter' and spoke knowledgeably about historical highlights and newer features (ie Atlantis). We visited areas, heard about every day life, laughed at the guard chickens at the rum distillery (they are huge!) and ate an excellent lunch in a local restaurant off the tourist path. A one in a million experience that can only be had with a Bahamian native.

Many years ago I crewed on luxury yachts and I would like to compliment both the Captain and crew for their excellence and hard work. The Captain imparted an easy confidence and I felt comfortable and confident aboard his ship at all times.

We are already planning our next cruise with Norwegian!

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom
Cabin BD 12234

Our cabin was spacious, clean and made up 3 times per day. The towel sculptures left on the bed each night were a nice touch. A Smart TV gave viewing options from bridge cams to standard news stations. A flyer listing the following day's activities was left on our bed every day. The sliding doors and walk-out balcony were a definite plus and I would recommend this feature as a 'must have'.

Our cabin was situated on Deck 12 (midship). No noise filtered through the walls. We left the balcony doors open at night .... the beautiful night skies and the soft swish of water as the ship traveled to its next destination were surreal and created a forever memory.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Turtle Swim

Sailing experience on 2 masted mono hull yacht was good. The underwater experience was disappointing as we only saw two baby turtle and a couple of stingray. The reef is basically non-existent. Didn't see any fish. The captain and crew were very friendly and capable.

Tortola

This island has rallied the best after 'Hurricane Irma'. The port was in good shape and lots of rebuilding has been accomplished.

Friendly vendors and the shops are beginning to build up their inventories.

Island Tour

Brilliant! A glimpse of Nassau past and present that only a Bahamian native can offer.
