The buffet was mediocre. Food never tasted all that fresh the few times I tried it and it was quite crowded with too many people, not enough seating. The main dining hall was good in comparison. Still an occasionally overcooked item, but leaps and bounds above the buffet. There was not a single formal night on the cruise and nothing even close. Every night would be a shorts and a polo type of night, which was fine, I just wish I had gotten the memo as a checked bag wouldn't have been necessary because of this in hindsight. The shows and bars and events/activities within the bars were all very good. The clientele was a great age range for us, being mid 20s, was great to see the bulk of cruisers in their 30s, rather than mid 40s like we've seen on our mediterranean celebrity cruise. There were very few kids from what we saw but there were many activities to occupy them. Our bathroom did spring a leak one evening but it was promptly fixed. All housekeeping was good.

All good besides buffet

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Snorkeling
THE BEST SWIM OFF BEACH SNORKELING. Very informed guides gave great precursor to getting in the water. We saw great array of sea turtles, stingray, colorful corals (especially once you get to the deeper portion), and many types of fish (including a barracuda and puffer fish). Extensive bar and food available. All at a reasonable price. Many other water activities available. Shuttle ride was efficient.

  • Stingray Encounter
Bars were frustrating as they were only open from 10am-3pm. The cafeteria had hordes of flies in and around the food. Those two things would have led to a 1 star but the stingray encounter was incredible. Very informative guides and great interraction that was the perfect length of time.

Would recommend Fort Zachary Taylor beach over south beach. South beach was convenient location for bar crawl, but not significant enough to outweigh that south beach is tiny and is slightly dirty with seaweed and you can't get drinks on the beach. A bar is right next to it, but you can't bring their drinks. FZT beach has a tiny bar to get drinks at and can bring them on the beach and the beach is much bigger, immaculate, and a better natural view. Blue Heaven is a MUST. As far as duval street goes, each and every bar is fantastic.

Would recommend spending time at beach and lincoln rd. With days there middle of the week, clubs were not hot spots, with many not open/closed early.

There are some unkempt areas not far from the tourist strip right along the water. But we ventured through said areas to get to Graycliff chocolatier ($12 tour) and John Watlings rum distillery (free tour). Both very worthwhile. Next we went over to arawak cay for the fish fry. Try to pick where you want to grab food, not be influenced by the workers. I got steered into the most expensive of the restaurants, though they did have A/C, which was worth it. Arawak beach, Western Esplande beach, and Junkanoo beach were essentially all connected, each getting more touristy, crowded, and overpriced.
