We took this cruise because the Canary Islands are an interesting itinerary that we haven’t done before.
At the pier we learned there had been a Noro outbreak on the previous cruise. It made for an ‘interesting’ cruise. I felt sorry for first time cruisers because the whole experience was different than normal. The crew worked 13-hour days and all shore time was cancelled. I don’t know how they continued to smile. At first, service in the main dining rooms was very slow. I believe it was because extra crew had to be reassigned to the buffet restaurant where people were not allowed to serve themselves. It took several days to get things back to normal. Kudos to the staff for all their hard work. I have never been on such a germ free sailing!
This was my 7th NCL cruise and have sailed most of the other mainstream cruise lines. This ship isn’t as fancy as others but it sure was fun! It was small enough that many staff got to know us and greet us by name. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves after the first shock of all the extra health precautions.
The cabin was under Le Bistro so there were no noise issues from above. It is a bit small but we were rarely there. The bathroom floor tile should be replaced.
We really enjoyed the NCL tour ‘Imperial Rabat and Casablanca’. Rabat was beautiful. No need to get local currency as everyone took our Euros. The last part of tour included a stop at the Mosque in Casablanca and ended at a fixed price souvenir shop (I liked that I didn't have to bargain). They accepted Euros and credit cards.
We took the Best of Lanzarote tour offered by NCL. It is an interesting Island. The tour included what I thought was a very good buffet lunch with wine.
Our favourite island! We found Hop On Hop Off sellers very close to the pier. It was excellent value for the money. Their routes cover a lot of areas. We used it to go to Monte where the botanical gardens and sled rides are. You can take the cable car back down into town (less busy if you go down from the top instead of up from the bottom) and hop back on a bus. The Red Bus company was very good.
There is a free shuttle into the town centre. It is a very pretty area and easy to walk. Had not intended to take the Hop on Hop Off but did. It is a shorter route than most cities but a nice way to see more of the city than you can walk to. No headsets on the bus, just a loudspeaker system that I didn’t like.
