Really enjoyed the haven experience. The layout of our room was really nice, but it was very loud when docking and there was a crew deck right in front of our room that was VERY loud late into the night. The food in the haven was outstanding...some of the best I've eaten anywhere. Cagney's was good, Le Bistro ranged from good to terrible, depending on what was ordered. The food served during Cirque Dreams was good, but I wouldn't have cared either way..the show was so good I wouldn't have cared what they served. Million dollar quartet was excellent, Burn the floor wasn't...really hard to follow the story line, if there was one. DIdn't love the ship layout. We had sailed on Harmony the year before and much prefer its design. Just didn't feel like there were many places to go on Getaway that weren't crowded. The worst part of the trip was flying out of FLL....they made everyone wait outside the ticket counters until 2 hours before your flight if you had to check luggage. It was chaos. There were so many people and suitcases packed into the area that you could barely walk.

Cabin Review

The Haven Forward-Facing Penthouse with Balcony

Cabin H7

The layout was great. It has two separate rooms-one master bedroom with a king bed (the bed does NOT separate into 2 beds, fyi) with a gorgeous and very large bathroom attached to it. The other room is a living room/dining room area with a couch that turns into a pretty comfortable single bed. The table easily seats 3 (max capacity of room). Plenty of storage and outlets. The bathroom has an amazing bathtub, a large shower with rain faucet and a huge double vanity. My only complaint about the layout of the room was that you had to enter the master suite to go to the bathroom, but this was a minor issue. It was so much cheaper than the 2 bedroom suite that we didn't mind that little issue. Otherwise it was like we had 2 rooms. The balcony was very small and somewhat obstructed on the forward side, but it was still nice. Our biggest complaint about the room, which is really a big one, is that it is VERY noisy. Some part of the steering mechanism was right below our room, so maneuvering into port was VERY loud and created a tremendous amount of vibration...to the point that dishes rattled on the shelved. If you are not an early riser, this could be a big problem for you. I don't know how someone could sleep through both the sound and vibration. There was also a crew deck directly out in front of the master bedroom. This meant that the round window in the bedroom had to be kept closed all the time and it was very loud late into the night.

Harvest Caye

Meh...it is a nice pool, but was kinda cold. The beach area has tons of lounge chairs, but the sand is rather coarse with lots of broken shells in it. The water is awful. It is opaque and full of seaweed and algae. Due to a sunburn from the previous day, I wore a white shirt over my bathing suit into the ocean. When I came out, the shirt was green from the algae. The ocean floor is also a mix of sand, broken shells and seaweed. Just not what I had pictured at a tropical island. Food and drinks are outrageous ($30 for 2 drinks). Activities are also very expensive. One zip line over the beach, which might last for 60 seconds, cost $40. The zip line course was $80. Compared to other private islands I've been to (Castaway Cay), this one isn't nearly as nice.

Costa Maya

did a little shopping. More expensive than I expected. pool is very cloudy/dirty. The area where they keep the dolphins for encounters is inhumanly small and filthy. Please do not support exploiting these animals.

Cozumel

More shopping. Less expensive than costa maya. Should have gone snorkeling, as the water was gorgeous.
