I had looked forward to going on the NCL Epic but room issues really affected my enjoyment of this cruise. I was in room 14147 and my suggestion is NOT to book this room. Every night of our cruise was loud with noises coming from above which we first thought were from the Garden Cafe. We later realized that we were underneath the blocked-off construction area around one of the pool slides. The last night of our cruise was the worst as it was impossible to sleep with the sawing, hammering, dropping noises coming from above - all freaking night. Who authorized non-essential night construction on a slide on the last night of our cruise? So until this work is completed, the Haven Spa balcony rooms on the 14th floor are not worth the cost. I would avoid these rooms like the plague! To add insult to injury, our toilet did not work for a full day and again did not work on the morning of disembarkation. Yes, we complained to the concierge and have sent an e-mail to NCL about this issue.
The reason I gave this cruise three stars rather than one was because the staff of the NCL Epic were phenomenal. Our concierge Omar, butler William, and room steward Johnito were super stars. The food in the Epic Club Restaurant in the Haven area was outstanding - better than any of the specialty restaurants. The staff was attentive and the foods were delicious. It is because of this amazing staff that I am considering going on Epic again but I'd plan to stay in the Haven courtyard area, not on the 14th floor!
NOISY! Until the construction on the pool slide is completed, this room is the worst. A lot of noise each night and the last night of our cruise, the construction noises were continual and impossible to sleep through. I would NOT recommend this room at all.
This was my third time at GSC and it was good - I do wish they would complete the Haven area though.
