Our cruise to NZ was wonderful. We love the smaller Sea Princess, especially the promenade deck that allows you to walk the whole way around the ship. As middle age cruisers (47 and 50) we certainly are some of the younger passengers on board, but love to chat with older cruisers and hear their stories. The common complaint that Princess is simply a floating retirement village may technically be true, but take the time to enjoy an older passengers company!
We always chose set time dining and had the most wonderful service staff who couldn't do enough for our table of 6. The pizzeria was excellent (as always) and the bar staff were exceptional. A small note - keep an eye on your bill nightly as sometimes drink prices differ between bars. The service desk is always happy to amend this for you.
The photography team were brilliant and we left with many more photos than we had planned to purchase originally. Keep an eye out for the specials as you can pick up some great deals towards the end of the cruise. The photography team also run some excellent tutorials in how to get the best from your camera. Well worth the time.
Nothing on a 20 year old ship is every going to be sparkly and new, and keeping this in mind helps enormously. Our cabin was impeccably clean including the sliding windows, bathroom and wardrobes. The luxury beds are something to write home about and the pillows are also wonderful. The fridge was cold, the water was hot and the aircon always perfect. If you can afford the extra few hundred dollars for a balcony I would highly recommend it.
