We have sailed on many cruise lines, Cunard, Crystal, Oceania, Celebrity, Belmond, etc and we do realize there is something for everyone. For us much of the experience is directly connected to the staff of the cruise ship and the ease and joy of travel when there are joyous and helpful crew on board. We stayed in the Iconic Suite so it goes without saying that it was a luxurious and relaxing experience with a view to rival the Captains. Beyond that aspect was our Butler and all the staff who took care of us. Elizar was ALWAYS right there when we needed anything at all and his huge smile and eagerness to be sure we were comfortable and happy made the trip so personal and stress free. The few hours he was resting Scotto took over and helped us. The Retreat staff starting with Priscilla was a welcome resource, the Hotel Director, John-Paul charming and approachable, Mike made all the wine activities fun and shared a wealth of knowledge from his industry background, December 63 for entertainment was the best and all the entertainment on the ship was top notch. We each also enjoyed several spa treatments - the treatments rooms were serene, beautiful and the service excellent. There was none of the usual waiting around a full reception area, they have it down to a science. There was also none of the high pressure sales that usually is the turn off for us on most cruise ships.

If I was to have any negative comment I will share the same thing that I mentioned to John-Paul at lunch which is I do not understand Eden. I am sure whenever you have something new and innovate there is trial and error that takes place. In my estimation this was an underused asset of the ship that with the right entertainment would be a huge hit. Move the Martini Bar there, put back the ice on the counter and bring in some great entertainment and you have a large useable space where more people can enjoy the atmosphere. I am sure that things will continue to change and improve as this ship goes through its infancy.

Overall I would have to say we were very pleased with all aspects of the ship. We took advantage of trying every specialty restaurant and each had its own charm. Thank you Captain Costas, John-Paul and all the wonderful crew on board the Edge!
