Pros: it's a cheap cruise and left from Galveston. Fellow cruisers were full of fun. We have been on many cruise lines, would pick the cruisers on Carnival over the more expensive lines just because they laughed so much and truly have a good time. Ship was mostly clean and well run. It was nice to have a couple of days at sea to just relax. Embarkation was very smooth. Debarkation was smooth for us, but be wise if you're on the 8th deck, they aren't allowed to leave until 1030. Our cabin steward (Wiriwan) and Lincoln dining room hostess (Melina from Romania) were excellent.
Cons: the food in the main dining room and buffet is pretty poor quality. Not that we didn't eat it, just you get what you pay for. Cleanliness was fine, workers washed their hands and wore gloves, food was piping hot. Breakfast venues opened later than we were used to, but coffee was open all the time.
Shows were so late (some started at 1130) that this didn't bother most people.
Nice cabin, well situated and quiet. Only problem was that deck 8 was last to debark and people had to be out of their cabins early.
It's a long walk into town, about 2.5 miles. We walked in and took a cab back ($10 with tip).
