The Escape is a big ship! However, since I have sailed on her sister ship the Breakaway 4 times, I had no trouble finding my way around. The ship was very well kept and clean. I have issues with the choice of furniture in some of the lounges and pubic areas. It may look nice, but it is really, really uncomfortable. Also, some of the seating was low to the floor, which made it difficult for those of us with old bones to get up.

I had a balcony cabin and I enjoyed the extra width on the balcony as compared to the Breakaway. The layout of the cabin was a bit awkward with the closet right next to the bed. Drawer space was minimal, although there were shelves in the closet. Cabin layouts on the Jewel class ships are much better. The bathroom was adequate and I really appreciated the glass shower doors. Also, there was always hot water during my entire shower. A night light in the bathroom would be nice. I loved my in-room coffee pot. My cabin stewardess, Kaden, was excellent.

I didn't frequent the buffet very often because of the crowds. The staff, however, were very helpful. For breakfast and lunch, I loved O'Sheehan's. The food was served in a minimal amount of time and was always hot. I loved everything I tried. Great food! I only ate in the Manhattan Room once as I find it very noisy. When I wasn't eating at one of the specialty restaurants, I ate at Savor. I ate at La Cucina twice and the food was great, but I was really hungry for lasagna and that wasn't on the Italian restaurant's menu!

Port Reviews

Harvest Caye

This is one of the prettiest ports. No need for a shore excursion here. The beach is great, the pool is phenomenal, and the grounds are well manicured. However, there is a charge for food on this island unlike Great Stirrup Caye that is required by the Belize government. So just eat on the ship before going ashore.

Cozumel

I have done every shore excursion there is on Cozumel, so I did not book one this time. Cozumel is also a good place to wander around and shop.

Costa Maya

During our port stop at Costa Maya, it poured, so I just stayed on the ship. However, on prior stops, I found it to be a nice place to walk around and shop.
