hi we just finished our 9 night cruise on Explorer Of The Seas and we had a great time. the main reason for having a great time was mainly due too the fact that we had a large group of 31 people with a mix of both adults and kids. some of us have cruised before, my family cruised on the carnival spirit 3 years ago so we could compare it to that cruise. so firstly we could not fault any of the staff at all, from the dinner wait staff, the cabin attendent down to the pool staff everyone was excellent as they were on our previous cruise also they all deserve more money. when it comes to entertainment our whole group were So dissapointed, the nightly shows were very dissapointing compared to our previous Carnival cruise which were awsome.one show was a so called comedy show performed by the director of the cruise but i must say Sorry but you aint no comedian we expected so much more.
So when it came to Kids club we thought having such a large group of kids they would love kids club but they didnt. it took them 1 hour to want OUT and never wanted to go back. our kids when on the carnival cruise were allowed alot of time to do their own thing but on Explorer they were told you should have read the intinerary if you dont like what we had planned you should not have come. at one stage the kids did such a very exciting activity where 20 or so kids sat in a circle with a single staff member in the middle passing the ball to them one at a time (very exciting).
and i dont want to keep comparing the Explorer to the Spirit but the Spirit had a better layout in our opinion, for eg the adults only area on the Carnival Spirit was at the rear of the ship was really well laid out with a large round covered lounges around the deck edge, when compared to the Explorer's adult area called the Solarium was a roman theme and in my thoughts wasn't very appealing at all. it was in the middle of two other areas one being the main pool the other being the cabin and lift areas which if you had children you had to walk through the are to get to the pool, which sought of defeats the purpose of an adults only area.our room was cabin 1852 right at front of the ship with the whole wall being a window it was awsome and it was bit bigger than a standard room. We visited the pacific islands which are OK if you have never been before but after a couple of times its the same old thing dead broken coral after 30 odd years of trampling it gets a bit boring will definilty be looking at other locations for further cruises. so overall we had a great time with our group but would prefer a different ship and destination next time we expected so much more after being told Royal Caribbean are the best. sorry guys tried to add pics but for some reason it wouldnt work so sorry
the cabin was really good it was bigger than a standard room and had a full wall window at front of ship cabin 1852 well worth the extra $400 not sure if my above cabin category is the correct one though. cheers troy
beautiful place although the coral is trashed all dead and broken from 30 odd years of abuse from cruise visits
beautiful island we had a great time but the wind was to strong to snorkel on the reef side of the island which also blew in blue bottles
