We booked two back-to-back cruises on the Viking Sun to celebrate our wedding anniversary: the first around the British Isles and a second around the Baltic Sea. This was to be the first time we would cruise extensively in northern Europe and, after having taken five Viking river cruises in central Europe, this was the first time we booked cruises on a small Viking ocean ship. We were excited to travel and to see and learn as much as we could in new parts of the world. Boy were we were surprised! This pair of cruises actually exceeded our expectations!
Life on the same cruise ship for 28 days -- the longest voyage we've ever taken -- was a truly grand experience! Not only did we thoroughly enjoy daily excursions at every port of call, but we also enjoyed dining, entertainment, and timely lectures aboard the ship. After sailing for only a week, we became so comfortable on board, getting to know many of the ship's crew by name with many of them greeting us by name. We even had an intimate dinner with the ship's captain and the business manager. It was like being part of one big happy family!
Service aboard the ship was excellent. All of the food was delicious, the cabins were clean, spacious, and well-designed, the crew were courteous and professional, and the ship seemed to sail well with only a little rolling when the sea was rough. However, even that just comfortably rocked us to sleep after a long day.
Excellent. Only wish we reserved both cruises at the same time to avoid having to move from one cabin to another between cruises.
Future back-to-back cruises will be in same cabin.
