OK, this was a great vacation with Viking, our first using Viking! It was tough getting to our embarkation point. Germany and Switzerland had increased security at the airports. So may sure you check with the airlines before you leave. If this is the case, you will need to take a deep breath when you land at these countries airports.
Now, when we landed in Basel Switzerland (this is funny), we followed the exit signs and ended up in France side instead of Switzerland side. Lucky for us that a Viking rep was waiting for us to make the mistake and got us on the right side of the border. Once we had our bearing, Viking reps were they to help us with bags and getting on the correct bus to deliver us to the longboat. Once to the boat, we checked in walked about Basel before having to report back to the boat for departing.
As for the boat, she was only two years old, very comfortable along with the cabin. The dining experience was unbelievably great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I would highly recommend having a diet plan in place when you return home because you will not be able to help yourself. As for the staff, it did not matter, if it was the room, dining, or excursions, you were taking care of. If you had an issue with anything, it was taken care ASAP!
The boat was only two years old, so the room was excellent. Plus, we had sliding glass doors, which was great for afternoons or evening when the boat was moving between destinations.
