Lovely ship, good service with a couple of rough edges.

We were looking for a Panama cruise and this fit the bill as far as the ship, type of passenger, itinerary.

The ship itself was very nice, the crew were good, the activities good. There was plenty of room on board with places to relax. The pool and hot tubs were not too crowded.

Overall, a wonderful experience with friends.

My complaints were as follows

1. The butter put out at breakfast for toast etc was rancid and moldy. The Lido restaurant staff were told about it by multiple passengers including myself, but it was not until almost 10 days after they were told of the problem that it was finally removed and replaced.

2. The snorkel/beach excursion in Huatulco was a fraud. The coral is almost completely dead. It was a sad experience and a total waste of money. We would have been much better off just going to the beach and restaurants in the main part of town.

3. They were trying to sell water as you got off the ship to go on shore excursions which included free bottled water. Maybe spend a little more time showing consideration for the passengers and a little less time trying to sell them stuff!

Cabin Review

Large Ocean-View Stateroom
Cabin H 2529

The cabin was fine. Clean and James, the steward was very good. Sandy in the dining room was great.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Los Angeles

We stayed on the Queen Mary, which though old and worn, is a great experience if you are interested in Maritime history.

Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is great. We went to the Malecon, but there is tons of stuff to do, it is safe and everyone is friendly.

Huatulco

The town is nice, but the snorkel tour is a fraud. The coral is almost completely dead

Puerto Quetzal (Antigua)

It was a long drive, but the tour guide was good and the town is a gem.

Mangrove River Tour

The crocs and different birds were the attraction. This was more a river tour than mangrove tour.

Corinto

The ruins of the original Leon I thought were a waste. The guide was good. More time in new Leon would have been better.

City Tour

Cartagena is lovely. The guide really knew his history. Holland America would do well to do an overnight here as we were really shortchanged for time. A place I would seriously think of coming back to.
