Celebrity Summit Cruise Review by Will y Pao Adventures
- Sail Date: January 2019
- Destination: Southern Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Inside Stateroom 9
The good- fast and smooth check-in and boarding, room available quickly. The ship is immaculately clean. Older ship but in excellent condition. Food food food everywhere, all the time. Excellent food at every venue.Service was excellent from everyone we came in contact with. Disembarking and re-entry fast and smooth.
The bad- cost of drinks ridiculously high, and the cost of a drink package ($79 pp per day x 12 days) out of this world. Not to mention the 18% "tip" that is added to every drink. Celebrity nickel and dimes you to death- extra cost for everything. Sodas, coffees, beer and wine etc etc etc it never ends.
Internet- another ridiculously expensive add-on. $27us for an hour? get real. And gone are the days when you could use a ship computer for a few minutes for a small fee. Now you need the mega expensive package to do anything.
Laundry service- another ridiculously expensive add-on.
Shows- too many no-name singers, magicians, comedians, not enough actual singing and dancing "shows".
Music- zero Caribbean Island theme or music anywhere. No steel drum band onboard. There were 2 live bands, both played very old music, short performances, low quality singers. Disco never played music newer than 20-30 years.
Overall Celebrity provides an excellent cruise experience. Food and service fantastic. Average age on our cruise was probably 60, mostly retired grandparents and a few young people. Saw very few singles. Saw very few kids. This is not a dance and party cruise.
We had the opportunity to meet several of the guests and they were all interesting and well mannered people.
