This was our first time on a Holland America ship. We had heard good things about HAL and thought the Koningsdam would appeal to us because of the musical theme of the ship.
We were not disappointed. The ship is lovely and the staff is very friendly and provide great service. The food was very good and in some cases exceptional, though there were a few misses. Our fellow passengers were an older group, most probably over 60 or 70 years old. There were few young people or families with young children.
We had a balcony cabin near the front of the ship and I think we used the balcony much more than on other cruises. It was large and one of the chairs converted to a chase with a pull out foot rest. The cabin itself was small, but had lots of storage area. The bed and bedding were great! The bathroom was fine and the shower was very nice. The Elemis products provided were very nice and I didn't bring my own shampoo and conditioner as I usually do. Our cabin stewards were fantastic!
As mentioned, nice cabin but rather tight quarters. Ample storage and nice Elemis products in the bathroom. Large, comfortable balcony.
Very nice tour around the island. Views from Shirley Heights were amazing, Nelson's Dockyard a very nice spot to enjoy.
Walked the trails and had lunch at the barbeque. Relaxed for awhile on the beach. Lots of lounge chairs.
We just walked around the shopping area at the pier. Some nice stores.
