Frankly we chose the cruise for price and date. We are in our 60's and didn't know what to expect. We didn't really fit in with the drinking, gambling, all night party atmosphere, but there were things we did enjoy. They had some entertainment was to our liking. The food and restaurants were very good. We LOVED the all you can eat soft serve ice cream.
We tried the hot tubs in the adult only section of the boat and they were disappointingly lukewarm. It was nice to have that adults only section with hammock, special seating without littles running around.
We were very glad we had shore excursions to look forward to. We booked our excursions outside of Carnival and quickly learned that preferential treatment is giving to those who booked with them. Meaning, when it was time to get off the ship, those booked with Carnival got off first and in a different area. You had communication and a personal guide all the way through the process. And if you had an excursion with Carnival, the ship would not leave until you were back on the ship. If you did your own thing, there was a chance that you would be left if you didn't get back.
This is an older ship, so the decor was a little outdated, but the room was great! Roomy, comfortable, lots of storage. We discovered the mini-fridge on the last day...too bad. We might have used it during the cruise!
Housekeeping was spot on. No complaints. We are glad we had a window to look out of. We loved see the land masses pass by, see the current state of the ocean, and see the docks etc.
Great way to spend the morning as we had an evening flight. Free drop off at the airport too!
The snorkeling was so, so. We went to two spots but they were only about 1/2 mile from each other. Nothing too spectacular to see.
Loved being in the water with the stingrays. We got to feed them too. They seemed well loved by all the ships captains in the water. It was crowded as there were about 8 other boats in the bay, but it was ok.
Really fun to go down into the hull of the boat and sit down and see out of windows that lined the sides of the boat hull. We could see the reef, coral, fishes and stingrays.
We were a bit nervous to do this, but it was so easy!! We would do it again in a heartbeat.
Our zipline complex had 17 lines and 24 platforms, including 3 suspension bridges. This was a little out of our comfort zone, but the guides did an excellent job and reassuring us.
The ruins were amazing. We had a 1 hours ride to the river boat site and then 1 hour on the river to the archaeological site. Due to a late start at the pier, we were rushed the entire time. We got maybe an hour at the site, and was told no souvenir shopping. We were supposed to have lunch at noon at a picnic area at the site, but due to time constraints (getting back to the ship on time) we didn't eat and took the 1 hour boat ride back to the river boat dock. They layed out the lunch and told us to get a styrofoam clamshell container and fill it with lunch to eat in the van on the way back to the dock. It was hard to eat in the cramped van and made for some car sickness feelings.
Such a cool experience to swim with and touch and interact with these intelligent creatures. This was inside the Chankanaab National Park which is great in and of itself. The cost included entrance to the park and a buffet lunch as well.
AMAZING. Swimming with and feeding the gentle giants, manatees, was so awesome! We bought the photo package, and while kind of expensive we don't regret it one bit. This was inside the Chankanaab National Park which is great in and of itself. The cost included entrance to the park and a buffet lunch as well.
