Having cruised before on smaller ships, we thought we would try one of the 'biggies' and as we wanted a Christmas and New Year cruise to somewhere warm, we chose P & O's Ventura cruise to The Canaries and Madeira. The weather couldn't have been kinder with just a bit or rain in Madeira (didn't spoil the wonderful New Year fireworks display though). Both ways across the Bay of Biscay were really smooth which was a real bonus.
As for the cruise itself, the service and food was very good; most of the entertainment was excellent; our cabin was fine and our cabin steward was first class. My only disappointment was that apart from a watercolour painting course (which would have cost an extra £21) there were no craft courses - which we've had on previous P & O cruises. Embarkation and disembarkation in Southampton went really smoothly. The various excursions we went on were all great.
So all in all we were very pleased with our holiday.
Just a gentle stroll around the town in the sunshine - most enjoyable.
Excellent tour with a very good, entertaining guide.View All 23 Timanfaya National Park Reviews
Really 1st class tour of the Volcanic caves or lava tunnels. Just a small number of people as only about 8 are allowed in the tunnels at one time. Excellent guide who really knew his stuff.View All undefined undefined Reviews
Yet another excellent tour, spoilt a bit by the long wait for the cable car up the mountain. Once we were up there it was FREEZING cold, but well worth it for the view.View All undefined undefined Reviews
Great tour spoilt a bit by the rain. Another excellent tour guide. Very different to the caves on La Palma, but still fascinating.View All undefined undefined Reviews
