Star Princess Cruise Review by dwflorida
- Sail Date: January 2019
- Destination: South America
- Cabin Type: Balcony
Embarkation in Buenos Aires was quick and easy.
Star Princess is a medium size ship, nice public spaces, with an active Piazza area.
We had a balcony cabin, nicely appointed, good closet space, although bathroom seemed a bit smaller than most. New Princess luxury bed was wonderful. Good dining options, anytime dining, 24 hour cafe available, breakfast, lunch, dinner buffet, plus some specialty restaurants. We ate in the steak and italian specialty restaurants and both were outstanding in terms of food quality and service. Dining room dinners were good, with a variety of options each night plus a good choice of "always available" items. Entertainment on board was quite good - one of the best production shows I have ever seen featuring Broadway choreographers. Other entertainers were enjoyable as well especially magician, Alex Ramon. Excellent port talks provided - informative and entertaining.
We arranged for excursions in all ports, similar to those offered by Princess but at half or less than half the price of Princess. In addition to the cost savings, the excursion group was much smaller (usually 12-20 people) vs a busload of 40 or more. Unfortunately weather prevented us from getting to the Falklands but we enjoyed the sailing around the glacier and Cape Horn. Lots of options for nature lovers - grand national parks, penguin sanctuary, plus beautiful views of Pacific, and Atlantic oceans.
Princess staff provides solid, consistent service - an excellent cruise experience.

Buenos AiresWe took a walking tour. Unfortunately this tour had close to 100 people - in other cities these tours generally divide large groups into 20-30 people -- this large crowd made it very difficult to enjoy the tour . We left about 1/2 way through - and walked around on our own. Lots of different neighborhoods and areas to see. We did not go to a tango show in the city but enjoyed tango expo on the ship.View All 237 Buenos Aires Cruise Port Reviews

Tierra del Fuego National ParkContracted for 4 hour tour, to see several areas in the park. Some nice sights but tour operator had to accommodate a train ride for 2 people who were not on the ship and we wasted and additional 1 1/2 hours waiting for their train ride to be completed. Horrible experience.View All 65 Tierra del Fuego National Park Reviews
