I really can't understand the negative comments about the cruise we experienced on the Silhouette. Was it perfect? No. But is any cruise completely perfect? I don't think so! But this was one of the best cruises we have taken, and we have taken quite a few. We were in Suite Class in a Shy Suite, Deck 10, Cabin 1202. You can read that review below. We started off in the new Edge terminal. Suite check in was great! An elevator up, no lines. No waiting, except for the woman who was complaining about her dining room table. But when we had waited 30 seconds, another person came over to check us in. We had 1 bag that we were carrying, and went to Luminae for lunch. There was no cruse of people at the buffet, just a nice quiet table. Our waitress was Eka, an extremely pleasant young lady from Bali. Except for 1 meal in Luminae, we kept Eka. Of all the cruises we have taken, if I could take Eka with us on any future cruises, I would pay the difference! To say she was wonderful would not give her the credit she deserves. Actually the entire staff in Luminae was outstanding. Our sommelier, Carlos, made the selection of a wine completely enjoyable. After the 2nd night, we didn't even taste what he selected. It paired perfectly with our meal. The ship is beautiful and well maintained. What absolutely added to the cruise was the Cruise Director, Sue Denning! We have had many cruise directors, but Sue has to be our age, mid 60's, but has the energy of someone in their 30's! From the time we got up in the morning, to late at night, Sue was always there. She was vivacious, and fun, but NOT over bearing! The entertainment was unbelievable, to good. Ivan Rutherford, who played Jean Valjean on Broadway and around the globe, performed a number of Broadway Show Tunes, and his voice was magnificent! There was a "comic/juggler" was on the bill. I am so sorry I forget his name. I said to my wife that I was not sure I even wanted to go to that show. That would have been a HUGE MISTAKE! To say he was a little funny would be like saying the Pope is a little Catholic! He was side splitting funny, and did a second performance matinee which was as good as the evening show! A group named Uptown, 3 guys from New York, were absolutely wonderful, and another senor moment since i can't remember his name, piano player/singer who has performed for years, and at the Grand Old Opry, was also great. The cast productions were OK. The silhouette had something called "Silent Disco." We saw these people dancing in the disco on the 1st or 2nd night, with no music, just headphones on. Looked pretty lame, but on the 3rd night, they moved it out to the main section of the ship. Lame it is NOT! Again, my wife and I are in our mid 60's but very healthy and pretty much in shape. Well, Silent Disco has got to be the most enjoyable evening dance activity we have ever done. There were all ages there, from their 20's to their 70's. You really don't want to hear this loud disco music if you have a cabin close to the center core. So everyone has headphones with 3 channels, each one playing a different selection. You see all of these "weird people' dancing with no music, then all of a sudden, people are singing, off key I must say because you have the headphones on and can't hear yourself, to the chorus. We did Silent Disco 3 nights and we should have done it that 1st night. There were a few "late night" activities for adults over 18 only. Hysterical! I'm gonna end it here, but to say we had a great cruise would be short sighted! This was definitely one of the best cruises we have ever taken. I would go on the Celebrity Silhouette again in a heartbeat!

Cabin Review

Sky Suite
Cabin S1 1202
1202 on Deck 10 is at the complete aft of the ship. This was definitely NOT a problem, even though it was a walk from the elevators. My wife and I (63 & 66) are in decent shape, we took the stairs instead of the elevators 75% of the time, so the walk was not something we minded. If you do have a mobility problem, it is a good walk. 1202 is behind a door that does not look like it is for public access. But once we found it, the room was great. Spacious with plenty of storage space. It has a large veranda, and here was the ONLY problem, if you don't like obstructions. The window washing unit parks right at the end of the veranda. It really didn't bother us, or was a real problem. But if you don't want something like this right outside of your door, get the Sky Suite on Deck 11. Again, this was not a problem for us. The bathroom is large and has plenty of storage. If we go back on a Celebrity Solstice class ship, we would definitely stay in this cabin again!
