We chose this cruise as it is Carnival's newest and largest ship and the Galveston port is very close to our Louisiana home - about 95 miles away by use of Port Bolivar ferry to Galveston. Of our 16 cruises, 9 have been from Galveston. We are able to drive there in about 2 hours including the ferry ride of 20 minutes- (Sometimes longer if we have to wait on the ferry) then a very short drive to the cruise terminal where we drop off our luggage and then to the Port of Galveston parking area. They then shuttle us back to the terminal. Our Embarkation time was scheduled for between 12:00 and 12;30pm. We arrived about 30 minutes early and was allowed to go ahead as my wife uses a cane, they immediately got her a wheelchair with a porter to push her through customs and onto the ship. It was extremely fast and easy. The ship was very nice and clean. Our cabin, a cove balcony, was ready at 12:30 pm. Our stateroom steward, Anak, was very nice and polite and kept our room spotless and we had ice each day as requested. We opted for Your Time Dining in the Horizon Restaurant on Deck 3 and was able to get the same table and waiters each day as requested on the first day. Our Wait Staff - Edgar, Sonny & Isaree were some of the best we've had. The food was very good from the lobster to the filet mignon & prime rib. Also Guy's Burgers are some of the best, and Guy's Pig & Anchor BBQ was very good. The Lido Buffet was good, especially the breakfast menu with the omelet station. Entertainment was lacking as the production shows were not up to par. We enjoyed the Thrill Theater and the Casino was fun with the wife winning about $300. The Sky Ride on Deck 14 was also fun. At Grand Cayman we had to be water shuttled to land as there is no docking facilities, we did some shopping and returned to the ship. At Cozumel we also did some shopping and back to the ship. We didn't do any excursions as we had done the ones we wanted to go on the year before on the Valor. Disembarkation went smoothly for us, we were off the ship around 8:30 am and was back at the ferry at 9:00am. Overall this was a nice cruise (especially after some of the negative reviews I read-I guess some people are hard to please) We will continue cruising next year.

Cabin Review

Cove Balcony
Cabin 7C 2349
Our cabin was a Cove Balcony Midship on Deck 2. We usually have a midship Balcony on the upper decks 8 or 9, this was our first cove balcony and probably will not be the last. It was very quite with no noise above or below us and a very private balcony.. Being this close to the water it was very tranquil hearing the splashing of the ocean waters. It was very close to the midship elevators and we were able to navigate the ship very easily. Our hallway went the entire length of the ship so we could easily get to the aft, mid, or fwd elevators. The cabin bed was very comfortable, the couch was a little hard, Plenty of storage areas and closets.
