Our son & family had sailed NCL in the Caribbean and were pleased. We sailed NCL for the first time in Europe on the Star and we were very pleased with the cruise (albeit we were in a suite).

Given the pre cruise hype for this new ship we were very disappointed. First thing we noticed were the low ceilings everywhere. We thought cruise lines had long ago progressed beyond those of the earlier days, when dining rooms and common areas were claustrophobic. The result is "noise", noise everywhere. There's no where for the sound to do but down. With 4000 passengers, elevators are always packed, especially when there are only 2 banks of elevators, fore & aft. No midship bank.

Only 1 small adult pool? Seriously? Perhaps it's because the race car track which is almost impossible to book once on board, takes up a huge portion of the aft section of the ship.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BD

The cabin was nice but the closet was very difficult to access as the sofa butted right up to the sliding doors. There was a king bed but it was not overly comfortable. The balcony was small with 2 rigid deck chairs. The TV was very small. Most movies were $9.95, the same movies we saw on Princess for free in November.
