The Koningsdam surpassed our expectations in these areas: décor, layout of ship, specialty restaurants and lots of music! We have just surpassed 100 sea days on HA and this is the best ship we have been on. It's new and refreshing. The food in the MDR was some days ordinary and some days exceptional. With anytime dining, we were seated efficiently, but the dinner service was slower than we hoped.

HA has taken the music off some of their ships, but the music on this ship was outstanding. The crowds gathered every night for dueling pianos, rock and roll and BB King, as well as the classical selections. HA is trying to appeal to younger travelers, so the dance production was geared in style and song to the 40ish crowd. Some of the music was good, but some was way too hip-hop for me. HA has replaced the dance productions(Broadway) with a BBC Earth movie. This was outstanding!

For the last three cruises, the biggest complaint on HA has been the tours. They are always overpriced when compared to the private vendors. They are always of a lesser quality in terms of what is actually seen. I have complained to the tour desk about several really lame tours, but they have no recourse with the tour operators. Read more
