Six of the seven cruises I have been on were with carnival cruise line. I’ve always liked carnival but little by little they are eliminating some of the things that made them fun. Some unexpected changes were rather disappointing. No longer do they serve lobster on elegant night, no longer do they provide free room service around the clock, buffet times are shortened so we actually missed the buffet twice. On this cruise while it was only a four day cruise I was also disappointed that the dress code was not enforced in the dining room especially on elegant night. More and more the cruise line is adding options to be paid for rather than included in The cruise price, and that was always one of the benefits of cruising. I have another cruise booked with carnival and I’m hoping things will be better on a longer cruise as they have been in the past. This was the first time I upgraded to a suite and the extra space was very nice, and VIP check-in was included. The only issue we had with the room was that there was no signage on how to use the lights which were a bit tricky due to the fact that we had a handicapped room. We tried all of the buttons and because we didn’t know better we actually alerted staff to an emergency in the room When there wasn’t one. We needed a sail and sign card to activate the lights But had no way of knowing that without any signage. The extra large balcony was a bonus, And we enjoyed that. Just before sailing I was upgraded to this room from a regular suite and while I knew it would be a handicapped room it wasn’t that we needed a handicapped room and it was a bit confusing. Service in the dining room was excellent, but the room service bringing us coffee in the morning got it wrong every single morning. They apologized profusely each morning as well and righted it, but it was a little annoying that we had to send them back each morning. I’ll say that we did have a good cruise and enjoyed ourselves but things have been better in the past
