We chose this cruise because we wanted a holiday over the New Year period and so we stayed in Barcelona for 4 nights prior to joining the cruise.
As we had previously cruised on a number of occasions with NCL we were directed to the NCL Previous Cruise Embarkation Line - unfortunately, as there were not many checkin desks available for this line people who were first time cruisers and were behind us in the queue joined the ship before we did.
Our first impressions of the ship were that it was a little dated, but quite clean and that the staff appeared friendly although there was no name card for our cabin attendant which I always find quite helpful. ( One did appear on the day before we left the ship)
This cabin was chosen by an NCL employee for us on a previous cruise as being ideal for our needs, unfortunately the only ideal thing was good about it was the position.
The first thing that I noted was that it appeared quite small and had obviously been changed from its original layout as the bed head light was only a few inches above the pillow on the left hand side of the bed. Previous guests had obviously tried to sit up in bed and had damaged the light shade as it would have been right in their backs - I did complain about and was told to tell the cabin steward who would move the room around but I replied that there was no room to do this and so they sent a supervisor who indicated that nothing could be done.
The second problem that we had was black soot like spots coming from the AC unit together with fumes and we had to complain about this 4 times and on the 3rd occasion an engineer came and fitted another foam like seal to stop this happening but I am not sure that this rectified the root cause. I also raised the question that the patio doors would not close correctly and this may have been where the fumes were coming from and on one occasion the handle came off in my hands but it was fixed the following day.
Other problems were - tv would not work, toilet would not work, tepid water first thing in the morning.
