10 night cruise in Dec,2018 on Jade. We cruise 1 - 2 times a year for 20 years now. Second time on Norwegian, last time was 16 years ago. This time will be our LAST. Talk about nickle and dime. The price was right for the cruise itself, but once on board we found ourselves in the smallest room ever. I thought maybe they put an exterior door on a closet and called it a cabin! Room service charge $12 or $13 each time. $65 PER DAY to use the sauna. Soda $4+ per can. No Coca Cola, and not allowed to bring any drinks on board if you bought something on an island...(liquor is taken on all ships, so that was not new). One of the 2 main dining rooms looked like a garage someone had thrown tables in. The second dining room was very nice. The Food! Terrible! How can briscot be TOUGH? Some appetizers repeated day after day after day. We found ourselves eating in the Pub restaurant 3 evenings for fish & chips, which were pretty good. Otherwise even the cafeteria area food was pretty much mediocre. Getting on the ship wasn't bad (wasn't great either-long lines snaking around the terminal took over 30 minutes to check in, even though we had a specific hour to be there--which we were. Getting off the ship! We made our way to the terminal to our luggage and couldn't find it.....no one tells you that certain color bags were in a room behind the main terminal. As for excursions, we took only one because the first in San Juan couldn't go because ship arrival time was too late (it was the time originally posted). Plus the one reason we took this ship was because it was going to Martinique--but that got changed! Excursion to volcano on St Lucia took 7 hours, most of that time sitting in a bus going up hairpin turns on mountain. Once we got to volcano, stayed there about 20 minutes, then back in the bus! It did make 2 or 3 other stops where we could buy trinkets, use the bathroom, but all in all, the longest, most boring 6 hours of my life spent on a bus. The guide got off on a verbal rant on the way back, giving his views on medicine, government, etc. Very glad to get back on the ship. No time for shopping other than tiny tourist traps on excursion. All in all, we relaxed most of the time, either in our tiny closet room or on deck. Nothing about this ship or this line would get us back.
