We chose this cruise for it’s size as we always wanted to visit New Zealand and have always heard sailing is rough/rocky, so we decided we wanted to go on a large ship which cruised to New Zealand. Food in the paid restaurants was exceptional, in the dining rooms and whinjammer were ordinary. The ports and the excursions were great and sailing through the sounds was amazing. Entertainment was quite underwhelming especially on sail days, seemed to be trivia, trivia and more trivia and paid bingo. Activities for all ages was lacking. Daytime shows or contests (on deck), or dancing or music (which could of taken place in boleros or music hall) was literally non existent. There was a lot of watch sales on in the main foyer (daily). Service was good in some places better than others, but overall nothing to complain about. The cruise itself was relaxing and enjoyable, the evenings entertainment most nights was good. The ship carries a large volume of people and therefore found when the evenings entertainment and theatre shows were on, if you didn’t arrive close to an hour earlier there would be no seats left. The theatre and Two70 was always full to the brim when something was on, so my suggestion if you want a seat get in early. Ovation was great to experience but to say I would sail it again, I don’t think so.

New Zealand well worth seeing

The cabins were comfortable and the bathrooms were nice, clean and compact. There was plenty of storage in the cabins and they are very clean.
