Chose this due to fantastic marketing by Hurtigruten but the reality does not live up to the marketing. The Norwegian coast is not how it's portrayed in promotional material and the towns are not quaint fishing village types but industrial towns. Not very attractive. The food was OK and varied choices buffet style for breakfast and lunch. Set dinner served most nights, portion size small. Buffet became boring during the trip as it was always basically the same. The excursions are expensive and disappointing in content. We took the Northernmost Tram Ride, which was good but that part was approximately one third of the excursion time. The rest was taken up by driving around on a coach and the guide pointing out housing areas built, say, in the 90s. We then went to the Ski Jump Arena where nothing was happening, then the cathedral for a toilet stop. There was actually a Tram Museum which would have been more appropriate to include. We saw the Northern Lights north of Tromsø but be aware you need to be this far north to have a chance of seeing them. I would advise you to book a Northern Lights viewing trip in the Tromsø area and go straight there. Then you don't have to suffer the Hurtigruten journey!
