My husband and I decided to take this cruise on the Koningsdam because we had been years before on Holland America and wanted to try it again. I knew it was a relatively new ship and we both thought we would enjoy the trip. Unfortunately the activities on board were practically none. On the positive side, the service was excellent and our cabin stewards were wonderful. We only ate three times in the main dining room, and decided to eat upstairs most evenings in the Lido Cafe. The food was very good, and plentiful. Also the choices for breakfast in the cafe were excellent.
The entertainment on ship was also good and bad. Two production shows with dancers and a juggler, were far from entertaining. The best show was a couple who sang Beatles songs. Also the music venues included a Rolling Stones Rock Band, a wonderful piano duo, and a BB King group . These were all great.
Since there was so little activities on board we watched a lot of movies in our cabin. We only went on two shore excursions since we had been at these ports several times before and could have completely done without the port of Tortola.
Our cabin was located on deck 1 and was an excellent place to get on and off the ship. Also we got around the ship easily. It was near the Atrium. We usually book a verandah, but overall this outside cabin was a great choice.
