We chose this cruise to celebrate our 25th anniversary and for it's length of time, number of ports and locations visited. We stayed at a small and very nice {clean} hotel/Inn, The Drift, which is about 1 1/2 blocks from the beach in Fort Lauderdale Fla. The strip along the beach is very clean and close to airport and cruise terminal. Getting on and off the ship was surprising easy and smooth going, this was our first trip with Princess so no "special" treatment was involved at that level.The ship was decked out for the Christmas Holidays and was very well done and festive. Our room was an Oceanview, clean with plenty of room and comfortable, except for the fold up bunk beds on either side of our bed which made the isles on either side of the bed a bit difficult to get down for a few days, by then you'd learned to lean over the bed as you made your way to the bathroom at night. Food was excellent as to be expected, with a good variety. We ate several times at the Crown Grill {specialty dining} and the steaks were outstanding, as well as the service and over all ambiance. The activities and entertainment on board the ship were... what you'd expect on board; hard to get into, lacking appeal, or evolved around selling their wares and goods. The service on board was also what you'd hope for and expect from a cruise... OUTSTANDING!!! {except for how a problem was handled by the service desk folks, you'd get friendlier service returning an item during the holidays at Walmart}. Except for our stop in Trinadad, our ports of call were friendly, interesting and mostly clean and enjoyable {St. Thomas and Antigua having been through 2 category 5 hurricanes recently were battered and in a rough condition, however, the folks were friendly and the island still enjoyable... our hearts go out to these people and what they endured!}

Cabin Review

Oceanview
Cabin OF P336
Our room was easy to access using the "medallion" method {which unlocked your door as you approached}, rather then a room key card.
The room was good sized and comfortable, as was the bed. The shower was a bit small but functional and we did have a bit of trouble with the "hot" water which turned into a fiasco for several days{for which we were rudely treated by front desk personnel and complaints and request to talk with a manger ignored}.
Our stateroom steward was friendly and fun, quickly becoming the best interaction with ship board personnel, he took VERY GOOD care of us and our needs.

  • Antigua
When to darkwood beach, beautiful area but not much too see while snorkeling. Beach was fairly uncrowded for most of the day. It was enjoyable, however, would likely choose another area if we were to revisit the island.

  • Semi Sub Tour
Great way to end our island trips, though the water was murky and viewing of ship wreck was low, the guides made the semi sub part enjoyable. The island tour was absolutely the best and amazing to see how different various areas of a small island can be... loved the place.

  • Snorkeling
Spent the day at Carlisle Bay. We went by boat out from shore a short distance and snorkeled with sea turtles, seen about 12 in all, we then boarded and relocated to a ship wreck that was very interesting indeed. The remainder of our stay was on the beach, a bit too crowded for our likes but the sand was like flour under foot and the day was beautiful.

  • Aquarium
Heard that the aquarium part of the tour was excellent, we didn't go to the aquarium because of how poorly the other part of the tour was handled and thought why waste another 42.00 thinking it would be just as bad... apparently it was the best part of the trip.

  • Beach
Not really impressed with this tour! 40.00 per person got you transportation, lounger and 1 drink {another 21.00 pp. got you into aquarium}. Things were pretty dis-organized when we arrived at the beach area {which was shared with several resorts} no loungers were out, a large stage and wooden platforms blocked access to the water and we were left to "figure it out", poor planning on the tours end. The area itself was beautiful and the snorkeling was great, but the way the tour was handled... not so much!

  • Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
The hotel/inn we stayed at was just off the beach and was very clean and surprising affordable considering the area we were in {breakfast cost almost as much as a nights stay}. The area was close to the airport and cruise terminal and the beach just 1 1/2 blocks away with several cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance. Beach and surrounding areas were kept very clean.

  • Plantation & Tropical Gardens
The Balata Church and botanical gardens tour was outstanding! I highly recommend the tour to any who travel here. We spent Christmas day on Martinique and the experience was one not soon forgotten.

  • Maracas Bay
Maracas Bay is on the far side of the island and the ride was interesting though not remarkable. The beach was not as crowded but then after Barbados, not as beautiful either. The water was warm but much rougher at then other places, waves were about 3 foot, good for body surfing just not the gorgeous teal waters and calm like other areas in the Caribbean.

  • Island tour
A fun run around the island and the complimentary drinks were great. Met with some very nice people on the far side of the island and enjoyed the tour narrative. Thanks to Sir Ian Clarke, great job!

  • Coral World Tour
Tour was not rushed and very informative. Coki beach is just next door and is a protected little cove that has some decent snorkeling opportunities or just lazing on the beach. Beach loungers with umbrella cost 10.00 each and since it rain on us for a bit was a good investment allowing us to keep our other stuff dry.
